To further improve efficiency of our marine and industrial engines Volvo Penta would like to investigate the potential use of waste heat recovery.
WHR converts e.g. exhaust gas energy to mechanical/electrical work which can be used in delivering extra power or powering auxiliaries.
· Thermodynamic background
· Interest in engines
· Experience with Gt-power or similar tools Description of thesis work
· Literature study on theoretical background and concepts in production
· Evaluate technical feasibility of a range of whr concepts qualitatively against different customer needs and applications
· Simulation of one or two concepts in one marine and one industrial application
· Packaging study of concepts modelled Thesis Level: Master
