What you will do
The Maintenance Engineer Intern will support the maintenance and engineering teams in improving equipment reliability, optimizing maintenance processes, and ensuring safe and efficient plant operations. This internship provides hands-on experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, offering exposure to preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, process improvement, and project implementation. Execute the activities related to electrical maintenance engineering, such as Office 365/Power BI, ePLAN/Auto cad, and Creo3D.
Who are you?
· Work collaboratively with the maintenance team to identify and close gaps in maintenance activities.
· Perform preventative maintenance tasks including active daily inspection of production facility equipment and repair diagnosis when applicable.
· Documentation and data collection/entry.
· Preventive and Autonomous Maintenance programs.
· Support preventive maintenance (PM) programs and help document maintenance activities.
· Collect and analyze equipment performance data to identify root causes of downtime and recommend improvements.
· Participate in equipment installation, modification, and improvement projects.
· Help develop or update maintenance procedures, checklists, and technical documentation.
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including production, quality, and safety—to ensure equipment reliability and compliance.
· Assist with spare parts management, equipment calibration, and inventory control.
· Observe and follow all plant safety and environmental regulations.
Skills:
· Proficiency in CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System)
· Proficiency in Office 365/Power BI and ePlan/AutoCAD
· Proficiency in Creo3D
· Ability to take provided data to Volvo Production Systems
Minimum Education Requirements:
· Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, or a related technical field and have completed 30 semester hours of undergraduate studies prior to the start of the internship.
· Basic understanding of mechanical systems, electrical circuits, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
· Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); experience with CAD or CMMS software is a plus.
· Willingness to work in a manufacturing environment and learn from hands-on experience.
· Minimum GPA of 2.75.

The hourly rate for these roles is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, academic classification, and degree seeking area of study.
