Position Description

In Complete Vehicle we area team of specialized functions with various responsibilities: Aftermarket technologydeveloping aftermarket solutionsfor the brands; Features Verification and Validation breakingdown features to technical requirements, as well as verifying and validating products and services; Product Design translating the soul of the brand to a product message; Product Builds delivering all truck and component builds; Special Vehicle Development developing niche products.

Aftermarket Technology provides Volvo Trucks, Renault Trucks, Mack Trucks, UD Trucks, Volvo Eicher Commercial Vehicle and partly Volvo Construction Equipment, Volvo Bus and Volvo Penta with the best possible solutions supporting their aftermarket business. Thanks to our deep technical, business and customer knowledge, we deliver solutions and services for the salesmen, the mechanics and parts personnel at dealerships and other service points such as Spare Parts Assortment, Parts Information, Diagnostics and Repair Information, Service Planning and supporting systems solutions and tools. In Aftermarket Technology we aim at securing that Volvo Group Truck vehicles can be easily maintained to secure uptime. Aftermarket Technology teams are working close to engineering functions as well as to end customers and are located in Hagerstown, Greensboro, Lyon, Gothenburg, Curitiba, Ageo, Bangalore and Brisbane.

Position Description:

The Group Trucks Technology Engineering Graduate Program is a global program for new graduates who are passionate about engineering, driven to make things better and have plenty of initiative. The Program offers a mix of on-the-job learning and intensive training modules including international travel to India, Sweden and France. The Program is offered in USA with placement in Greensboro, North Carolina. The Program starts in September 2018 and will be ongoing for 12 months. After that time you continue to work in the position you have been recruited into.
The successful candidate will receive a full-time position in our organization and the chance to impact live projects with exposure to the entire engineering lifecycle.From the start, this position will be given a challenging hands-on role, working in a diverse and global environment.The program training modules will include travel to Sweden, France, and India and are specifically designed as preparation for a career with Volvo.

There will be continuous learning provided throughout the program to include training courses, e-learnings, workshops, and specialist trainings that are applicable to the position. There will be opportunities to develop the individual's area of expertise and secure valuable professional qualifications. The assigned Manager will conduct frequent reviews as part of a structured development program.At the closing of the program, a concise assessment of performance and competence will be completed and used to develop a career path.

This position is based in Greensboro, North Carolina. At this site we are proud to develop state-of-the-art vehicles for Volvo and Mack Trucks. Our engineers work in areas like research, product design, engineering, testing, product planning and project execution as well as support the products in the aftermarket.

Potential Core Responsibilities

·  Perform a variety of routine engineering assignments requiring application of standard techniques and procedures.
·  Serves as an experienced engineer in a specialized and/or complicated area of assignment requiring limited direction and supervision.
·  Plans, develops and completes engineering projects within an area of assignment.Heavy emphasis is placed on level of expertise, knowledge, originality, analysis, interaction within department and external organizations.
·  Ensure that the deliverables from the department meets agreed upon QDCF (Quality, Delivery, Product/ Project Cost, and Feature) targets for affected start cost projects and PMR activities.
·  Create Functional Specifications and Technical Requirement Specifications to develop hardware and software that would provide the best reliable functionality, quality and meet all related regulatory requirements.
·  Assist with development and designs for improvement of components, systems, costs or assembly/manufacturing methods.
·  Conduct component and system level testing activities on components and equipment for heavy trucks under designated conditions to ensure operational performance meets design specifications.
·  Assure compliance with all applicable vehicle regulations (FMVSS, FMCSR, EPA, CARP, etc.) relating to his/her area of responsibility.
·  Document results clearly and accurately in both technical report and high-level management summary format.
·  Coordinate activities with other departments within the Company, as well as deal with customers and vendors on a limited basis as necessary.
·  Support Requirement Owners for breakdown of requirement to facilitatedesign development.
·  Gather market input from brand and support Product Development fordeveloping alternate concepts and finalize best solution fulfillingtechnical and commercial needs.
·  Secure Verification and Validation of concept / Solution.
·  Manage and drive multiple requirement areas, balance and harmonizedefined requirements for assigned projects. Take lead to ensure allrequirements are properly documented and fulfilled.
·  Facilitate balancing of requirements and ensure final agreed uponrequirements are properly documented in approved tool.
·  Secure Verification and Validation to fulfill project requirement bycoordinating with stakeholders on current status and potential risks.
Program Requirements:

·  MS Degree strongly preferred with concentration in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial Software, or similar program.Must be a recent graduate within the past 18 months or have an anticipated graduation date by May 2019.
·  Fluent in English with an international mind-set.
·  Valid US Work Authorization.Visa sponsorship is not offered for this program.
