Job description

We are looking for a CAD Technician to join our team and build the Springbank Off-Stream Reservoir, 15km west of Calgary. The Springbank Off-Stream Reservoir will provide flood protection along the Elbow River in Calgary and other downstream communities.

Desired profile

About you:

Role & Responsibilities:

• Work within the Technical Department but with strong interactions with the Construction Departments (Earthworks and Logistics, and Structures) and other Departments if required.
• Prepare dimensional drawings, installation/haul road/signage drawings and more complex drawings.
• Keeps the site management plan drawing up to date (haul roads, utilities, signage, stockpiles, emergency access points…).
• Prepare phasing drawings for structures or earthworks.
• Revise and update existing drawings reflecting design changes.
• Maintain notes, design calculations and other documentation (like drawings, bill of materials, list of design parameters, …) for future reference.
• Help the topographical survey team to process the surveys and calculate quantities from the surveys.
• Perform/assist quantity take-offs based on drawing information.
• Other duties as required relating to CAD database maintenance, etc.

Requirements & Preferred Experience:

• Associate's degree or completion of a technical trade school in CAD, drafting or related field, plus at least ten years of related work experience: or any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
• Experience using Autocad 3D design software (mandatory).
• Experience in civil works projects (mandatory).
• Experience in Microsoft Project, Primavera and/or Tilos is a bonus.
• Excellent communications skills
• Skilled in PC usage and associated software including Microsoft Office.
• Able to generate layout drawings from sketches and specifications.
• Familiar with design parameters related to civil engineering.
• Knowledgeable of standard drafting practices and procedures.
• Able to work with minimal supervision, efficiently schedule and manage time.
