Job description
The V&A is the world's greatest museum of art and design, with collections unrivalled in their scope and diversity. We are looking for an experienced professional to help us achieve the highest standards of quality and workmanship, while ensuring the integrity of the Grade I listed buildings.
The Design & FuturePlan Division is responsible for the delivery of FuturePlan, the V&A’s on-going capital programme for the redesign and refurbishment of its historic buildings; the provision and management of design services for the Public Programme; and for the on-going maintenance and upgrading of building fabric and services across the estate.
The Estate Department provides and manages all of the technical services such as engineering, building surveying and estate management and plays an integral role in the delivery of capital projects.
You will assist in the delivery of the operation and maintenance of the Estate and provide building users with a single point of contact for all associated needs.
You will contribute to the operational and maintenance of the Museum’s Estate, managing and coordinating works throughout the Museum at South Kensington, The Museum of Childhood in London, EC2, storage and conservation facilities in West London, and deep storage facilities in Wiltshire.
You will have a relevant qualification in building or facilities management combined with experience in maintaining and refurbishing a large listed and/or historic building. You will also need experience in project management, the management of external contractors, and knowledge of traditional construction practice.
