Position based at our client site - Swansea University, Singleton Park, Sketty, Swansea SA2 8PP

Closing date 19th August 2018

Hours - 40 hours per week with some overtime when needed

Job Purpose:

We are looking for a dedicated on site waste and recycling operative to manage the waste and recycling activities on behalf of our prestigious client - Swansea University. Given the complexity of the University campuses, the role will ensure that all waste and recycling activities are carried out in line with all relevant waste legislation, and the University's procedures. You will be the link between Veolia and the University.

Duties:

To work to a specific timetable agreed by Swansea University and Veolia.

·
To coordinate the daily on the ground waste collections of various waste streams across the University's campuses, including overseeing the exchange of all on site waste receptacles.

·
To liaise with the Veolia Traffic Office, and all drivers directly prior to, and during site visits to ensure timely collections, exchanges and deliveries are carried out, within the stipulations of the Veolia/Swansea University contract.

·
To work directly with the University Waste and Recycling Officer, and when required to obtain costs for ad hoc services in a timely manner, advising on the provision of all waste collection services provided by Veolia.

To resolve any issues, by liaising with both Veolia heads of service and the University to ensure the delivery of an efficient and effective service.

To undertake routine inspections and be responsible for ensuring the constant cleanliness of all University waste compounds.

·
To carry out daily inspections and routine audits of all sites' waste receptacles, including the removal of contamination and overspill to ensure clean recycling streams and compounds.

·
To uphold and promote the segregation of waste for recycling into the University's key waste/recycling streams.

·
To coordinate with Veolia subcontractors to arrange timely ad hoc collection for various specialist waste streams.

·
To complete internal waste collection requests placed via the University's works order systems by staff within the allotted time given, relating to, but not limited to Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) and confidential waste

·
To attend weekly meetings with the Waste and Recycling Officer and heads of services when required.

·
To assist deliver planned waste management services for large scale university events.

·
Complete a weekly complaint/service issue log and fax to office complete with copies of internal works orders

·
To operate an onsite cardboard bailer

·
Other University site working will be required

Seeked profile

Qualifications :

Skills, Knowledge & Experience:

· 
C1 (7.5 ton) licence as a minimum and previous driving experience of working in the waste and recycling industry with an understating of waste legislative requirements, and waste storage

· 
Good IT skills – Outlook and Excel

· 
Excellent communication skills

· 
Demonstrable time management and work planning skills
