Job Description

This position is for the second shift.

3:00 pm - 12;30 pm

Responsible for performing a variety of routine hazardous and non-hazardous waste tasks in the movement of solids and liquids. Under direct supervision, tasks could include all types of manual labor in cleaning and decontamination operations, handling, packing, re-packing, unloading and loading, and processing at fixed operations sites.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Load and unload various size containers (totes, drums, tankers, trailers. etc.)

2. Use a variety of tools such as impact wrenches, shovels, jackhammers, etc.

3. Transport hazardous waste materials from storage facilities within the facility as directed.

4. Decontaminate and dispose of empty drums and/or containers according to RCRA and disposal guidelines.

5. Assist in completing all necessary paperwork for processing materials to include transportation of materials to and from various locations.

6. Perform general housekeeping duties.

7. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.

8. Inspection material handling equipment as directed.

9. Assist in the loading/unloading of hazardous and non-hazardous waste materials at various on-site locations.

10. Act in a safe manner at all times to prevent accidents.

11. Notify the supervisor/manager of all incidents and accidents within established timeframes.

12. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

● High School diploma or General Educational Development (GED) required.
● Prior work experience of 3 to 6 months in the hazardous waste or chemical industry in a
related position with proficiency in handling forklifts and a variety of tools preferred.

● Ability to effectively communicate through reading and writing
● Ability to safely operate material handling equipment such as fork trucks, hand trucks, roll-off trucks, etc.

● Basic knowledge of chemical hazards.

Ability to obtain a 40-Hour OSHA HAZWOPER Certification. Will be required to wear chemical resistant PPE including a Full Face Respirator as needed. Forklift certification will be required. Work environment is primarily indoors. Some lifting is required.
