Where you'll work
Veolia's Energy Recovery Facilities (ERF) utilise world-class technology to safely transform residual waste into energy. For the national grid, we generate enough energy to power over 189,000 homes annually. Energy Recovery makes an important contribution to reducing the UK's long-term energy gap and helps to increase landfill diversion as part of an integrated waste management strategy.
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an Operations and Maintenance assistant to join our team at Battlefield ERF in Shrewsbury, Shropshire.
What you'll do
As Operations and Maintenance Assistant your main duties will be:
To assist the Company to meet its obligations in the compliant reception and disposal of waste and residues ensuring safe operations at all times.
Manage the waste reception and ash residue hall areas, managing vehicle movements and operating mobile plant equipment to load vehicles as necessary.
Receive deliveries and carry out the safe unloading to achieve zero spills, maintain the cleanliness of the site through effective housekeeping.
Record and report any defects in a timely manner and assist in the execution of basic routine maintenance tasks when requested.
Operation of the plant refuse cranes.
Cleaning of the plant and equipment to maintain the health, safety and operational standards required.
Maintain all mobile plant records and report mobile plant defects into the site maintenance group as well as carrying out sampling on site in line with required frequencies.
Experience you will need
To enable you to carry out this role you must have a practical hands-on approach as you will be required to carry out duties in a modern energy from waste plant. You should have a reliable and positive attitude to work with the ability to work as part of a team as well as individually
A driving license is essential.
Experience of operating a mobile plant is desirable.
