Where you’ll work
You will work at an energy from waste plant, on the South East Coast. Taking over 246,000 tonnes of waste per year and converting it to 19 MW of electricity. This is enough electricity to power over 25,000 homes. He waste burnt is reduced to a third of its original volume and most of the waste is used in other industries.
What you’ll do
As Maintenance Technician you will carry out maintenance tasks, involving electrical and mechanical fault finding, defect rectification and routine maintenance activities. You will carry out planned and breakdown maintenance on a variety of plant and apparatus, including overhead cranes, rotating equipment, 415V motors, variable speed drives, switchgear etc. you will report, diagnose and remedy plant defects, proposing improvements where appropriate. Propose and develop modifications to plant/apparatus as appropriate and liaise with operations staff and other maintenance staff as appropriate.
As Maintenance Technician you will supervise company and contract staff, maintain the workshop and other work areas in a clean, tidy and safe condition being aware of and working within the company Health and Safety, Environmental and Quality Systems.
Experience you will need
To enable you to carry out this role you must have a recognised apprenticeship, having detailed knowledge of all aspects of maintenance techniques and hold a relevant maintenance qualification with an understanding of and ability to interface with PLC Controllers. You should have experience in a continuous process industry having good communication with staff at all levels.
You should be available to work a rota that includes some weekend working to give overall maintenance cover 365 days per year, be contactable, and attend site, outside of normal working hours if required. You should be self motivated and able to work under minimum supervision whilst being an effective team member. Able to communicate well orally and in writing with a flexible, creative approach to problem-solving.
Some manual handling is necessary.
