Job Title - Landfill Operative

Salary - Competitive Salary **** plus Veolia benefits *listed below

Location - Blue Haze Landfill, Verwood Road, Ringwood, Hampshire BH24 3QE

Hours - Full time, 07:15am-16:15pm Monday-Saturday (alternate Saturdays)

What you'll do

This role predominantly involves the operation of heavy mobile plant at both the landfill & transfer station facilities. It will also include a degree of general site/plant maintenance tasks as required by the business. Main duties include:

Undertaking safe and competent operation of a wide range of mobile plant including Wheeled Loading Shovel, 360° Excavator, Dozer, Articulated Dumper, Tractor and Landfill Compactor. Training will be given as required.

Understanding and complying with current Health & Safety legislation, Quality Assurance procedures, site licence regulations, agreed Codes of Practice and any other statutory and legal requirements.

Maximising outgoing vehicle weights within compliance with Legal and company requirements.

·
Ensuring routine maintenance and cleaning of plant and equipment, including daily checks and reporting of any defects to the site management.

·
Keeping the site in a reasonably clean and tidy condition at all times by undertaking housekeeping duties.

·
Completing machine-hours, defect sheets and other related paperwork to the required standards.

The above is a summary of the main responsibilities, all other reasonable work instructions should be undertaken.

Qualifications :

The experience you will need

Essential :

Basic level of English and Maths.

·
Ability to communicate effectively within a team

·
Work on own initiative as well as part of a team

·
Reliable, punctual and customer orientated

·
Must hold current in date licences for plant equipment such as CPCS Plant Operators (or similar)

Desirable :

·
Previous experience within a similar role

·
Previous mechanical experience with heavy plant

Where you'll work

Blue Haze is a landfill/waste transfer station facility with ancillary operations to include a Gas Utilisation Plant and Leachate Treatment Plant. The site accepts circa 100,000 tonnes of Household, Industrial & Commercial wastes annually, some of which is landfilled and some of which is sent for further treatment enabling recovery & reuse. The majority of your work will be conducted outside operating heavy mobile plant whilst working alongside a small team of up to 9 people.
