Where you'll work

You will be based at the Brent Public Realm Offices situated in Alperton, however the role will require working across the whole of the London Borough of Brent.

We are extremely passionate about the work we do. Our diverse team focuses on our customers and has the drive and energy needed to continue to deliver our success.

What you'll do

Deliver face-to-face community outreach activities to encourage residents and other key stakeholders (such as council staff, businesses and caretakers) to improve recycling rates, promote responsible environmental behaviours and increase environmental quality.

Activities could include:

Working with collection crews and residents to educate and reactively improve how services are used

Attending and organising community events

Door-stepping target areas

Assisting in the development and effective delivery of service changes and project plans

Responding to resident enquiries and working with communities to improve services

Increasing awareness both across the borough, e.g. residents, community groups, schools and council

Seeked profile

Qualifications :

Knowledge, skills and experience;

Comfortable presenting to large audiences, adults and children

Education, environmental education or community liaison experience

Knowledge of the national curriculum and environmental education frameworks

Previous knowledge of the recycling sector or Local Authorities (desirable)

Experience of working with the community and organising events (desirable)

Knowledge of H&S and performing risk assessments (desirable)

Multi-lingual (desirable)

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Excellent attention to detail and planning ability

Strong organisational skills with the ability to multi-task

Computer literate with strong MS Office Skills

Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team

Full driving licence

Embraces the concept of sustainability in life outside work

In addition to the above, the successful candidate will be required to work outdoors at times in all weather conditions to carry out events. You will stand and walk for sustained periods whilst door knocking or manning events, as well as being required to lift and carry items.

Flexible working hours will sometimes be required with the ability to work outside normal office hours: e.g. early morning, evenings and at weekends.
