Job Title - Chempac Chemist

Location - Stewartby, Bedfordshire

Hours - Full time - 40 hours, Monday to Friday

What you'll do

The Chempac Chemist will list and identify all wastes, collect hazardous waste from customer sites, ensuring that it is packaged and segregated suitably for transportation and is compliant with all relevant regulations and company policies.

You will ensure all paperwork is correct, segregate all items safely for safe transportation and check that all items are packaged correctly. You will ensure that collections are efficiently managed to maximise customer service, all vehicles are compliant with legal requirements, including operator licences.

The Chempac Chemist will provide an efficient service to all customers, in line with the company, legislative and customer requirements. Customers will range from very small, e.g. a residential to large multinational organisations and the relationship will be through the delivery of service.

Where you'll work

This role is an off-site role which will involve drives of several hours to a customer depending upon their location. The type of customer will vary from anything from an outdoor Military base to an indoor Pharmaceutical lab. Once there, you will work on site to segregate, list and pack the hazardous materials before transporting them back to our Stewartby depot.

Depending on the size and nature of the job you will either be working alone or as part of our team. On larger jobs that are further away, nights out may be required.

Ideal candidate profile

Qualifications :

The experience you will need

The successful candidate will have an ONC Science, A Level Chemistry or equivalent in a relevant field. You will have experience with manual handling and possess a valid UK driving licence and be comfortable driving a 3.5-tonne box van. It is essential that you are able to obtain MOD security clearance.

The ideal candidate will possess a Chemistry degree/HNC Level, ADR (International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road) qualification and a First Aid Qualification. It is also considered beneficial to have a Health and Safety Qualification, possess sound knowledge of environmental legislation and knowledge of the waste industry/dangerous goods, however, this is not considered essential and training can be provided.

This position involves driving to customers premises from Stewartby to locations in

London, Kent, East Anglia and Berkshire. It is estimated that 50% of the job involves driving. It is therefore advantageous that the role holder lives fairly close to Stewartby to reduce the length of their day travelling into work.

This role involves working around a variety of chemicals and would not suit someone who is prone to allergies, such as Penicillin.
