MAIN JOB PURPOSE:

Unilever International (UI) is an alternative but complimentary route to market, servicing white space opportunities not exploited by local operating countries. It is a global business unit with 6 hubs (Singapore, India, US, UK, France and Dubai) with a diverse range of products, with expertise in utilising 3 rd party distributors and consolidators to reach consumers in over 75 countries. Unilever international is independent but fully integrated with clusters.

This role will sit in the UI Europe team providing financial support for the sale of both mass market and selective distribution products, with a development emphasis upon the latter to provide operational business partnering support to senior management. The business has seen rapid growth which will continue through organic and white space activities, and is managed by a cross functional business team, that has dedicated resources in Sales, Marketing, Customer Service, Demand Planning and Finance. The UI Europe business invoices from multiple legal entities and the P&L contributes to UL international and also directly to several European MSO.

The purpose of this role is to provide finance/ commercial business partnering to the business team in the areas of performance management, CD finance, Supply chain finance and Risk and controls. This role will also be involved in evaluating new business opportunities and liaison with other hubs and Singapore HQ to share best practice.

The role offers a fantastic opportunity for the right person to demonstrate ownership of the full P&L and be involved in all areas of finance, and would allow an ambitious and successful candidate to progress further within the organisation and within their career. The roles also offers line management experience of a Finance Apprentice.

A suitable candidate would be early to mid-career and have between 2-5 years professional experience, looking to/already studying for an accounting qualification (CIMA/ACA), and looking to progress within an organisation and their career to management level.

JOB SUMMARY:

Accounting & Reporting:
· Month end reporting, communicating insight and analysis to the UI UK/I team and the wider business.
· Review in month performance vs forecast, highlighting gaps and recommending corrective action
· Responsible for the integrity of UI UK/I balance sheet.
· Manage Multiple Business Unit Reporting across several countries.

Business Partnering
· Ensuring that pricing is within the strategic framework.
· Reporting and partnering GM across customers, geographies and ranges and recommending action.
· Maximise Return on Investment
· Ensuring that planned promotions are within guidelines to optimise return whilst delivering against brand strategies, and making recommendations for improvement.
· Monitoring A&P spend, reporting variances against forecast and providing quick investigation into discrepancies.
· Monitoring Overheads spend to within budget
· Develop business cases to evaluate new business opportunities required to maximise growth potential of the channel. Challenging assumptions and highlighting risks and opportunities.
· Build relationships in the Unilever Supply Chain Company (USCC) to understand the cost base within the UI P&L. Including forecasting future cost movements and understanding implications on pricing
· Support in S&OP to feed into the UI demand planning and Singapore central forecasting
· Develop close working relationship with central Finance team in Singapore, and share best practice across the broader UI finance team.

Accountabilities:
· Financial results delivery of the UI business vs. Prior year and submitted forecast.
· Year on year sales growth and gross margin enhancement.
· A rigorous and accurate 12-18 month rolling financial forecast.
· Integrity of the balance sheet
· Improvement in operational effectiveness measures (bill to cash, purchase to pay).
· Overheads – Budget management.
· Strategic plan with key financial levers and metrics
· Line-managing apprentice resource on work deliverables and coaching off-the-job training

Consultation:
· Monthly financial forecast.
· Business performance reviews.
· New business evaluation.
· Acquisition or disposal of country markets.
· Review of operational effectiveness.

Information:
· Category and brand plans.
· Weekly sales performance.
· Stock planning and obsoletes management.
· Consumer and market information.

· Part Qualified Accountant
· Industry experience in commercial roles
