Job Title: Stores Operative

Location: Unilever UK

Function: Technical

Responsible to: North West Stores Leader

SALARY: £26404-£28804 (depending on experience) + Benefits

MAIN JOB PURPOSE:

The Engineering Stores Team Member is responsible for completion of key tasks in the Engineering Stores with particular emphasis on Customer Service and stock integrity. The Stores Team Member will also ensure that targets are met for safety, stock integrity, 5S, auditing and customer service
There is also a requirement for running weekly SAP and Ariba Buyer standard reports to ensure adherence to the procurement process.
The Engineering Stores Team Member will also be responsible for Stores goods in/out and internal/external customer counter service.

JOB SUMMARY

Safety
· Ensure Company safety policy, rules and procedures are understood and followed on all operational tasks and improvements including manual handling.
· Identify and report health or safety hazards & dangerous situations and put appropriate control measures in place
· Perform risk assessment as appropriate
· Managing the condition of the items stored in the area safely

Quality
· Complete the stock taking of stores stock, using correct procedure to ensure stock integrity.
· Assist with the harmonization of spares for using WCM methods.
· Ensure consistency of processes for Stores.
· Inspection for any quality issues on all goods delivered to the Stores.

Customer Service
· Instigating investigations for failed requisitions to improve customer service
· The ability to use all work systems to communicate effectively with personnel at all levels, from team member to Sourcing Unit Manager is essential.
· Assist all customers with stock item and purchasing queries

Cost
· Monitor weekly KPI’s to monitor spend, stock values and stock levels by area
· Identification of duplicate items to reduce stock values and quantities
· Reviewing and reporting stock consumption and non-movers, managing stock levels and agreed target.
· Work with Engineers and Focused Technicians to identify obsolete items or reduce stocks of slow moving items on a regular basis. Set up plans for future improvement in this area.

5S
· Assist with 5s in stores area and office, visualise and colour code the parts storage position, minimum stocks, continuous improvement for storage
· Ensure 5S standards are clearly defined and followed
· Perform 5S audit according to the defined schedule and implement the improvement actions
· Audits and archiving – ensure a robust system is in place and maintained for storage, filing and archiving of relevant paperwork

Problem Solving / Decision Making
· The Stores Team Member will be required to provide solutions to problems of repetitive or occasional frequency that affect the efficiency of the stores operation.
· In the absence of any defined routines the Stores Team Member will be required to proactively seek solutions through their knowledge and application of all work systems at their disposal.
· Due to varying workloads or unexpected requests the Stores Team Member will be expected on occasion to be flexible in the management of their time, and to make decisions to achieve deadlines that would otherwise affect customer service.
· Application of knowledge of work systems (eg. SAP / Ariba Buyer) to provide effective solutions to ad hoc problems
· Support service issues root-cause analysis, suggesting changes/improvements to procedure

Training and Development
· Review training and development needs in consultation with Stores Leader
· Update skills and knowledge to meet the demands of a changing business environment

Early Management
· Work with projects and operations to ensure any new equipment is identified and added as new stock via the correct procedure
· Work with projects and engineering teams to ensure that spares are identified and valued and so included in CP for removal of machines and equipment.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

· Experience in a Stores or warehouse environment to enable the whole system of stores activities to be understood and undertaken.
· Excellent level of computer literacy and numeracyskills with meticulous attention to detail.
· Sound IT e.g. Excel, Word skills with good working knowledge of the use of SAP and ARIBA systems.
· Good understanding of the needs of our customers both internal and external.
· Experience of communicating with all suppliers.
· Effective stock control and expediting skills of Engineering. Overall stock management.
· Problem solving techniques, WHY-WHY analysis and other WCM tools.
· Use of forklift truck to offload deliveries.
· Engineering knowledge/experience would be advantageous.

In order to function effectively the Stores Team Member will require the following attributes:
· Business administration skills to facilitate the complete flow of information of all the stores activities with both external and internal customers.
· An awareness of the Stores impact on the rest of the business and compliance through the understanding of procedures and work instructions applicable to the role, such as ISO 9002, 14001, SOL, Safe Practices. Generate and deliver actions to meet with ISO standards, recognise non-conformance.
