Main Job Purpose:

The Asst. SSHE Manager has overall responsibility of managing Security, Safety, Health & Environment to achieve Excellence on site. She/he works within the organization to develop SSHE Strategy and improvement plans in order to achieve sustainable SSHE excellence by reducing injuries and environmental impacts on Project Sites.

She/he is an interface between the company and the government. S/he leads the requirements of Project Permitting to ensure all Projects conforms with regulatory bodies on ensuring the Project Sites meet all local, national, legal and Unilever standards on Occupational Health, Safety and Environment. S/he leads the Environmental Impact Assessment for Project Sites.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

· Deploy global/regional SSHE strategy, policies, and standards to achieve excellent sustainable results
· Manage SSHE teams responsible to deliver Health, Safety and Environment results
· Develop, deploy & implement plans to improve security, safety, health & environment records of site
· Drive Safety Risk Assessment and Environmental Impact Assessment and work with the Team to develop and implement SHE strategy and improvement action plan
· Work with regulatory bodies on ensuring the site meets all local, national, legal and Unilever standards on Health, safety and Environment
· Reduce the site’s environmental impact in areas of COD, hazardous & non-hazardous waste, CO2 emissions, water & energy consumption
· Lead Zero Waste to Landfill Programme by design of the site
· Lead the WCM Safety Pillar in accordance with ManEx / WCM guidelines
· Lead the qualification of the site to the IMS: OHSAS 18001 & ISO 14001 with the factory team
· Lead digitalization of SHE team by focusing on development of Apps, Dashboards and AI
· Act as site coach for Unilever Behavioral Based Safety (BBS / BeSafE) Programme and support the operational team in the deployment of BeSafE Programme at the site
· Develop a thorough understanding of the Unilever Machinery, Electrical, Process and Chemical Safety Programs and support deployment in the site.
· Provide guidance on the application of Unilever guidelines and procedures for Process Safety Risk Management & SIMAS (Safety in Manufacturing & Supply Chain)
· Agree & establish safety procedures & effective controls for the Management of Change, Safety Management of Contractors & Commissioning of new equipment & machines
· Works closely with Occupational Health personnel to identify and mitigate risks which may lead to occupational ill health
· Develop and implement programs for Pandemic Preparedness as per Legal Legislation and UL Requirements
· Lead and develop the internal and external crisis committees and CSHEC committee; support serious incident investigation and analysis
· Control all major risks ensuring there are plans & actions to mitigate impact in cases of accidents
· Drive the safety and environmental leadership through line management by Influencing the Sourcing Unit (SU), Leadership Team (LT) and team leaders.
· Monitor site SHE related legal compliance and ensure the site meets all local/national regulatory requirements and Unilever standard. Provide advice on national SHE legislation requirements & implement relevant procedures and policies.
· Assist site LT to develop the crisis team and safety committee; support the site leader in leading incident investigation and analysis
· Conduct trend analysis & share results from the incidents, near misses, safe behavior observations and deep compliance audits
· Develop and deploy internal SHE audits and inspection systems, participate in audits of other Unilever organizations as required
· Determine training needs and assist in delivery of training programs
· Ensuring that SHE related critical data and records are maintained with integrity
· Work on an agenda to eliminate or reduce major site risks; develop, implement and monitor the investment plans to reduce or minimize OSHE risks on site
· Work on the reduction of environment impact of our operations such as waste, effluent, emissions, carbon, energy consumption
· Develop and deploy internal SHE audits and inspection systems
· Perform accidents / incidents trend analysis
· Determine training needs and assist in delivery of training programs
· Provide advice on national SHE legislation requirements & implement relevant procedures/policies

Key Competencies & Skills:

ESSENTIAL

· Minimum 3 Years in HSE in a Supply Chain operation
· NEBOSH certified
· Manufacturing and Engineering experience
· University Science and Engineering degree qualification advantage
· Experience in Supply Chain
· Excellent knowledge of Unilever and SHE ISO Standards
· Good knowledge of Machinery, Electrical &Process Safety and Chemical Management
· Negotiation Skills
· Good Observation and Auditing skills

PREFERRED

· 5 Years Mechanical, Electrical or Technical Engineering experience
· Master’s in science / Engineering
· SAP knowledge
· Post graduate studies in Supply Chain related subjects
· Special studies in SHE
· World Class Manufacturing Knowledge or exposure
