MAIN JOB PURPOSE:


We are currently recruiting for Multi Skilled Engineers with continuous improvement experience within our team at Port Sunlight who will be involved in improving the overall equipment efficiency of the area under their responsibility through coaching and using WCM tools to: implementing fix forever solutions to simple problems; form part of wider teams for more complex issues; and overall drive the zero breakdown and losses mindset. We are looking for Engineers who are proactive and will be great contributors.
Alongside this you will support the Shift Engineer to maintain and sustain performance on the line through Preventative Maintenance and maintaining improvements implemented in the area.

JOB SUMMARY

• Perform 5S audit according to the defined schedule and implement the improvement

• Ensure breakdown analysis for all component failures and the implementation of countermeasures to eliminate root causes has been completed
• Ensure the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are reviewed and the gap analysis is carried out on a regular basis to understand and input into the improvement plan.
• Lead the technical element of preventive maintenance, completing work as required

• Ensure effective two way communication with Shift Engineers (inc. details of breakdowns and losses, feedback on breakdown analysis, details of improvements, and transfer of specialist machine knowledge)
• Be involved on equipment ranking process and apply criteria to prioritize maintenance

• Lead improvement activities to improve efficiency and reduce costs, supporting operators to complete kaizens as required.
• Ensure improvements are cost effective before implementation

• Prioritise and lead improvement studies and activities to eradicate chronic and sporadic losses applying systematically appropriate FI tools and techniques
• Ensure improvements are sustainable (eg deliver training, establish new standards, and update inspections)

• Understand principles and parameters of equipment, be able to describe and analyse loss phenomenon and plan to eliminate these losses

• Close skills gaps identified by the skills matrix through proactive planning with Leader


KEY REQUIREMENTS

Candidates must be time served apprentices and have a minimum NVQ level 3 in Engineering
Proven experience in a similar role
Multi skilled engineering experience (mechanical, electrical and software)
Understanding of 5S, lean manufacturing and continuous improvement
