About the Role

The Data Engineer is responsible for the overall data management strategy for Malaysia and Singapore region. He/she will traffic and implement solutions to accurately capture, process, transfer, map, and decide the right data transformations among multiple legacy and native UFS systems used while localizing to the market’s needs. He/she will also decide on data control standards and data decay guidelines keeping all vital information in technical documentation with regulated access rights to the right stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

·  Work with the global, regional and local teams to measure, track and improve data quality, helping ensure that data is available, complete, consistent and seamless.
·  Identify process simplification, automation, data harmonization or de-duplication opportunities to improve data quality and lead projects to execute the same.
·  Perform data validation alongside local data team members.
·  Work closely with global data and tech teams to ensure proper roll-out and data integration for existing and new solutions .
·  Maintain proper technical documentation and network architectural diagrams for the region.
·  Conducts Data Standard trainings and monitor data adherence.
·  Help local Data teams cleanse, map and process data.
·  Help local Data teams design, build, and sustainably refresh data flows while ensuring optimal security and recoverability to match the needs of the stakeholders in sales, marketing, operations, etc.

Essential Experience/Skill/Knowledge:

·  3 years of experience in data engineering and working experience with managing data infrastructures.
·  BSc or MSc in computer science or relevant field.
·  Experience with implementing data governance and quality programs.
·  Experience developing data transfer in integration interfaces with other solutions as well as migration.
·  Have a leadership attitude to help spread the data quality mindset.
·  3 years experience in Python and SQL.
·  Understanding of MS Azure data tooling (Databricks, Data Factory, Azure Storage Explorer).
·  Understanding of data warehouses and data lakes.
·  Experience with building ETL data pipelines.
·  Experience with using CI/CD pipelines and Continuous Testing.
·  Experience with database querying tools (JIRA).
·  Knowledge of API integrations & experience setting up future-proof data networks and data mapping in line with the business strategy.
·  Strong project and time management.
·  Experience with business intelligence platforms.
·  Ability to adapt and work in a VUCA environment.
·  Fluent in English.

Desirable Experience/Skill/Knowledge:

·  Has experience interpreting (sales/financial/marketing) figures.
·  Experience in working at a multi-country organization.
·  B2B experience.
·  Understanding of Unilever Data landscape.
·  Experience with SAP and/or Marketing Automation tools such as Salesforce & Marketo.
·  Ability to communicate with business stakeholders.
