Ubisoft Halifax is looking for a Senior Generalist Artist who will collaborate with the Art Director and Lead Artist to help create complete art assets for production that maintain a coherent vision of the game’s look and feel, while contributing to pipelines and mentorship across the team.   
The ideal candidate will be comfortable in many areas of game production such as 2D concept, modeling and texturing, as well as working knowledge of the industry’s leading game art software. 

Key Accountabilities: 

·  Creating compelling 3D models, textures (both hand painted and photo based) for use as in game assets.
·  The ability to produce artistic benchmarks for the production team.
·  Work closely with the 3D art team and the concept team to ensure consistency between the concept and final 3D assets.
·  Being able to take finished assets and set them up for use in engine.
·  Participate in the constant improvement of asset production methods and techniques.
·  Provide mentorship and guidance to other team members
·  Maintain a high level of quality while working with design constraints and balancing performance issues.
·  Construction of games assets, including creation of terrain, environments, props, model
·  The ability to unwrap and map various meshes
·  Preparing assets and creating a compelling scene which brings the concept work to life.
·  Working closely with the Art Director and Lead Artist to maintain art style and cohesive look and feel throughout the game.
·  Maintaining a consistent quality of work while staying on schedule.

Autonomy:

·  Prioritize effectively and be able to recognize and report tasks that require immediate attention throughout development
·  Ability to estimate and communicate time frames, schedule tasks and draw attention to unexpected delays as the come up

Requirements:

 

·  Must have a minimum of 5 years experience creating art for games.
·  Passion for creation of visually stunning environments whether natural or architectural.
·  Zbrush experience in creating high definition environment pieces or characters a large plus
·  Strong technical skills in integrating environments with next generation toolsets (scene lighting, environment optimization and event triggering)
·  Setting the standard for less experienced modelers
·  Traditional art background advantageous

As Ubisoft's first exclusively Mobile studio, our focus is on originality and functionality. Creating new projects and developing Flagship Ubisoft IPs. Our position on the tip of the East Coast is strategic in terms of studio efficiency (closest to European and American Time zones), and creativity (biggest game hub east of Montreal).

Our studio is located in the heart of the city (Halifax, Kjipuktuk in the Mi'kmaw native language) within the iconic Maritime Centre.The Halifax Harbour is in view from our windows, and lunch breaks can be spent on the boardwalk or at one of the many restaurants and cafes that populate the downtown core. The studio culture is dynamic, with communication happening constantly between teams with an emphasis on team building and collaboration.
