JOB SUMMARY

Supports the Transportation Supervisors/Managers by informing Supervisors/Managers of all situations that pertain to Transportation.

Provides daily guidance and/or training in the activities of peer Transportation Coordinators when applicable.

Interfaces directly with Distribution Center and Transportation Companies to provide a timely flow of merchandise into our Distribution Center.

Interfaces directly with Stores, Distribution Centers, Service Centers whether operated by TJX or a third party and other third party transportation companies to provide a timely flow if merchandise into our stores while working to maintain the lowest possible transportation cost.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Major Areas of Responsibility

Provides guidance and/or training to other peer Transportation Coordinators when applicable.

Assists in conducting audits.

Follows Best Practices.

Reports and notifies appropriate personnel during an emergency, carrying out best practices, pre-planned and/or necessary procedures.

Maintains shipping schedules and prepares other reports as necessary.

Ensures all paperwork is properly completed.

Prepares and maintains all inbound claims paperwork and sends to Home Office.

Creates daily delivery schedule based on volume, obtains maximum savings by splitting or combining loads without affecting service to the stores.

Supports Stores, Distribution Center, Loss Prevention and Transportation vendors / companies through timely communication.

Monitors and communicates with transportation vendors to ensure performance compliance and problem resolution are maintained.

Monitors and communicates detention records with transportation vendors and Distribution Management/Finance Management

Creates and monitors cross dock schedule.

Creates and schedules all inbound appointments.

Monitors SCAN and advises Distribution Center of volume and aging.

Notifies Home Office Transportation of all Trailers not in SCAN.

Reconciles daily trailers in yard and any off site yard to verify status.

Accounts for and inputs all inbound freight bills.

Monitors and updates cross-dock reports daily.

Creates and sends all exception reports, empty trailer and container reports to carriers.

Generates and issues all reports, logs and other written communication.

Performs other post and duties as required or directed.

Participates in special projects as assigned.

 

JOB KNOWLEDGE

Minimum formal education, if any, required to perform this job:

High School Diploma or equivalent job experience

 

Minimum job skills required to perform this job:

Yard Management Systems

MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access (or other database platforms)

Professional Level Communication Skills

Strong Interpersonal Skills

Strong Computer and Math Skills

Customer Service Skills

 

Minimum experience required to perform this job:

2-4 years of Transportation and/or Logistics Brokerage and/or Supply Chain Origin/Destination Administration experience and customer service skills in handling conflict resolution
