Your responsibilities

General Description

The day to day efficient management of the Ring Rolling Mill and all ring rolling operations. Supervises and directly manages Rolling Operations and all personnel employed in all production related functions. To ensure all production targets are achieved and appropriate corrective actions are taken if targets are below the required level. To ensure that all personnel adhere to all work instructions, procedures and standards related to productivity, quality, safety and management. To maintain disciplinary procedures where necessary and ensure all plant and equipment is used in the manner intended and is properly maintained and taken care of. Complete daily, weekly, monthly reporting as required.

Individual Responsibilities

• Communicate changes and issues that may affect production commitments.
• Provide reports for production control meetings, advising status of production orders.
• All supervisors must arrive 20 minutes prior to their shift starting to change over the shift. This changeover must include a walk around the shop to discuss relevant issues and communicate with employees where appropriate. All relevant information must be entered into the "day book".Ensure all production targets are achieved and corrective actions are taken if not.
• Ensure all production targets are achieved and corrective actions are taken if not.
• Receive production schedule outlining the production requirements and delivery dates of sales orders. Review the production situation and assign work to the machines.
• See that operators on all production equipment have the necessary material, tool and instructions to set up and run the job.
• Handle matters of additions, deletions, rush and emergency orders affecting the schedule.
• Follow up on the work in general and keep the work moving.
• Investigate defective work with Quality Assurance, Production Control or others to determine disposition.
• See that work is kept ahead of equipment and help operators as necessary, including training new operators.
• Work with Production Manager, Staff departments and personnel concerning numerous matters and problems affecting the shop, such as personnel, schedule, machines, maintenance, breakdowns, rejections, shortages, etc.
• Interview applications to fill shop vacancies.
• Administer Company employee personnel policies, rules and regulations.
• Recommend transfers, upgrading and wage increases as warranted.
• To efficiently manage the man hours to meet the production during periods of absence and holidays. Address poor performance or unauthorized absence through the disciplinary procedure. All disciplinary actions to be copied to HR Department for individuals file.
• Assist with the implementation of new tooling and technology.
• Maintain and control shop floor reporting, such as SQDIP, 5S and visual management boards.
• Ensure inventory is controlled, such as crop ends, and excess stock is avoided.
• Keep management informed of new machines, tooling, materials, parts and processes.
• Maintains a safe working environment by complying with all safety and environmental policies in the workplace. Advocates for and promotes a safe work environment by reporting near misses and/or other safety and environmental hazards, wearing all required PPE and encouraging others to do the same
