Job description

Thomson Reuters Bangalore Content Technology provides systems development and support for content processing needs. Content used by Legal Business Unit and some of the other Business Units in print and electronic products is sourced from systems developed by this group. The group oversees and executes on a wide range of project types, ranging from cost saving infrastructure to revenue driving product development initiatives.

The BLCT is focused on developing applications using Java/J2EE and Oracle technologies. This involves migrating existing data to Oracle from mainframe systems and developing brand new code based on web architecture for existing legacy applications. This team also involved in maintenance and support of Judicial systems to help the business in ongoing production of value add content . The efforts expected in this position include the support of existing capabilities as well as the development of new capabilities to support new product development initiatives and major infrastructure initiatives.

We are looking for a highly motivated and detailed oriented individual to serve as Software Engineer on the Judicial Work Bench team (JWB) within the Bangalore Legal Content Technology team The ideal candidate will possess strong organization, communication, and problem solving skills. The candidate must also possess effective oral and written communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal skills. A person with strong product development skills using agile methodology is key selection criteria.

Essential Day to Day Responsibilities:

• Development activities:

o Develop efficient and high quality code while meeting product release deadlines

o Assist leads to prepare time estimates for projects and software design plans

o Write good technical design documentation and technical approach

o Develop and execute detailed test plans (unit testing and functional testing)

• Production Support & Maintenance activities:

o Respond quickly to support issues and follow up till resolution

o Conduct thorough troubleshooting and provide quick resolution to production problems

o Follow up and provide timely reporting on issues to management

Education :

A four-year degree in computer science or a related field is required. Graduate training in business or technology is a plus, but not required.

Knowledge & Skills:

• Core Java, J2EE(AJAX,JDBC, JSP,SOAP), Application Server (WebSphere/Tomcat), Oracle, XML/XSLT, Unix (Linux) platform and Perl

• Application of Object Oriented Analysis and Design (OOAD) techniques and implementation using Design Patterns.

• Knowledge to create unit level tests using JUnit and experience with Shell scripting

• Experience in extensive use of source control tools such as Team Foundation Server

• Effectively balance and prioritize multiple projects and tasks concurrently

• Ability to interact effectively within and across other teams

• Strong technical acumen and communications skills

Previous Experience:

Candidates should possess:

• 3+ years of total IT experience.

• 2+ years of Core Java OR J2EE based development using Design Patterns

• Expertise in XML and related technologies

• Possess excellent written and verbal skills

* Knowledge or experience in workflow systems such as BPMS or Activiti is desired

* Hands on experience on UI technologies such as Advanced Javascript OR AngularJS is a big Plus

Candidates should also possess:

 An established track record for creating clear and concise technical designs and architectures for medium to large scale problems.

 A history of meeting aggressive deadlines in uncertain environments and maintaining strong customer relationships.

 Strong interpersonal and communication skills including both oral and written proficiency
