Casual Events Host
Internship London (Greater London) Events
Job description
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the RSA Events team to support the delivery of the RSA’s renowned programme of free public lectures, talks, debates and documentary film screenings.
In this role, you will support the team on the ground to ensure the smooth delivery of each event. Regular tasks will include venue preparation, welcome and registration of audience members and Q&A microphone ‘runner’ duties.
As the first point of contact for event attendees, and, often, also for high-profile speakers and events partners, this role requires excellent interpersonal skills, a professional, calm, friendly manner, and an ability to think on your feet in a fast-moving environment.
This will be a zero-hours contract and hours of work are variable according to the timing of events; around 2.5 hours over lunchtimes and early evenings. At the RSA, we look after our staff; all RSA employees, including zero-hours employees, are entitled to fair pay and conditions, including holiday pay. We fully support those who work with us to support themselves while in higher education and you may refuse inconvenient shifts without detriment. See the full application pack for more details.
The RSA combines thought leadership with civic innovation to further human progress. Building on our 250 year history as a beacon for enlightenment values, the RSA is currently at an exciting period in its history. We provide platforms for leading experts through the UK’s most ambitious free public lecture series, our projects generate new models for tackling the social challenges of today and we are building on our network of over 27,000 Fellows around the world – these are achievers and influencers from every field with a real commitment to progressive and social change.
