Primary Purpose of the Role:

This role is responsible for supporting the Thales Transportation Technical Safety and Systems Assurance (TS&SA) function in undertaking and delivering the required Safety and Systems Assurance activities for Projects/Products, in accordance with Project/Product requirements, Customer requirements, and Chorus 2.0 TS&SA processes. The role will provide support to Functional Advisor ensuring that TS&SA processes are applied consistently and to the required quality across all of the GTS UK TS&SA function.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks:

· Providing Technical Safety and Assurance support to the key roles of the Project according to the Customer/user requirements RAMS relevant Standards and Chorus 2 TS&SA processes
· Undertaking all Technical Safety and System Assurance activities throughout the Project/Product lifecycle, from the specification to the acceptance of the product
· Safety Integrity Level (SIL) allocation for systems/subsystems and process validation
· Performing all Technical Safety Analyses and ensuring their traceability throughout the Project/Product life cycle
· Managing the approval of the Technical Safety Demonstration
· Participation in and management of the Safety Design Reviews undertaken throughout the lifecycle of the Project
· Managing Safety Assessments and Audits undertaken throughout the lifecycle of GTS Projects
· Coordinating and Supporting the TS&SA input to all new bids by UK GTS, ensuring appropriate coverage from within UK GTS TS&SA or identification of any external inputs required
· Providing Support for Engineering Safety accident/ incident reporting and investigation
· Providing Support to deliver Engineering Safety Training pack to all relevant UK GTS staff and Projects
· Providing Support to the TS&SA Functional Advisor to promote the TS&SA function and activities throughout GTS
Skills, experience and qualifications

· Knowledge of railway systems an asset - experience in Systems and Safety Assurance within the rail industry
· Experience in Engineering Safety/RAMS Engineering/Systems Assurance within the rail industry
· Knowledge of Technical Safety and RAM railway standards, such as EN50126, EN50128, EN50129, Yellow Book principles
· Engineering Safety/RAMS Engineering and/or Systems Assurance background
· Formal training or supervised work in applying Technical Safety and RAM Engineering techniques, methods and tools
· Proven experience of undertaking FMECA and Technical Safety and RAM Assessments
· Proven experience of involvement in hazard identification / risk assessment workshops
· Ability to use RAMS Tools such as Isograph FaultTree+ and Availability Workbench (or AvSim+)
· Ability to effectively communicate and report, in both verbal and written English, to colleagues and customers on highly technical matters
· Degree-level qualification in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
