Thales Underwater Systems (UWS) is a global leader in advanced Sonar systems and for more than 2 decades has been responsible for delivering systems to both civilian and military customers.

This is an exciting opportunity for an Mechatronics/Electronics Engineer to work with an experienced and supportive team, focused on maintaining and supporting the Scylla Sonar suite on Collins Class submarines.

Key Responsibilities for this Role Include:

· Undertaking set to work activities on board submarines and providing support to defect rectification
· Working with the manufacturing, maintenance and repair teams to deliver and maintain hardware equipment; providing assistance in developing assembly, repair and test techniques, sourcing of alternates to obsolete parts and materials, and testing as per appropriate engineering specifications
· Document all activities including engineering investigations, obsolescence remediation, specifications, design reports, electrical schematics, PCB project files, development test plans and reports.
· Working with the Electronics and Mechanical Engineering Design teams in order to develop prototype (analogue/digital) equipment designs.

Qualifications, skills and experience Required Includes:

· Tertiary qualifications in Mechatronics/Electrical/Electronics Engineering or similar
· Industry experience with good written and verbal communication skills
· Knowledge of electronic system integration and testing and familiarity with systems engineering methodologies
· Knowledge and experience in PCB design and layout tools, circuit simulation
· Experience with fault diagnosis, obsolesce treatment and military documentation standards, and understanding of basic network architecture and Unix network protocol would be advantageous.
