Join us as a key member of the Systems Integration Team based at the Thales site in Manchester. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with Thales sites in the UK and overseas.

Purpose

The main purpose of this role is to develop and implement open architectures for combat systems within the Thales group, representing Thales with the main Customer Groups and across the wider industry in forums on combat system architectures, and act as the design authority on the development of future maritime combat system architectures. Initially, this is for surface platforms. Within this role you will be responsible for creating, managing, promoting and delivering a vision for Maritime Combat System Architectures.

Responsibilities

· Creating, managing, promoting and delivering a vision for Maritime Combat System Architectures.
· The development and management of Requirements Specifications for the System and Subsystems level.
· Solid understanding of the development lifecycle and lifecycle products.
· Interfacing with the client, to define open standards and architectural frameworks.
· The defining and authorising of Design Descriptions and Verification Requirements.
· Provide technical advice to the Engineering Group Manager on all technical matters and management issues related to the Systems Engineering Group.
· To provide technical direction and leadership to the Systems Engineering community.
· Understanding and embracing customer needs and advising customers.
· Establish and maintain a structured Systems Engineering process and activity
· Represents the Systems Engineering Group on the Change Control Committee.

· Review change proposals, approve ECN's on behalf of the Engineering Department
· Design authority for combat system architectures within a collaborative environment
· Application of open architectures to Thales projects, bids and products.
· To be recognised as an Expert in in combat systems architectures across Thales Key Skills and Experience


Essential

· A sound understanding of naval open combat system architectures
· Experience of collaborative working with cross-industry/customer teams, desirable for this to be multi-national.
· Sound knowledge of combat systems deployed in UK maritime fleet, with detailed knowledge of at least one combat system equipment
· Have attained professional status (CEng) or equivalent Desirable

· Prior experience of operating as a system design authority
· Has a sound ability to define the use of System Engineering tools, in particular modelling and requirements management. Qualifications and Certification:

· Member of a professional body
· Engineering Degree or equivalent Apply
