Job description

AQUILA Air Traffic Management Services is a partnership between NATS, a leading UK air navigation services specialist, and Thales, a driving force in UK and global air traffic management. Together, we are deploying our expert knowledge to improve military air traffic management in the UK by the delivery of the MOD's Marshall Programme. This is a transformational project that will ensure UK military air traffic is managed by a modern, cost-effective and world-class system.

As a Regional Maintainer, you will provide mobile Air Traffic Management Technical Services engineering support activities to all Service Delivery Sites and Service Enabling Sites within the Scottish Region. The Scottish Region encompasses stations such as Lossiemouth, Kinloss, Tain, Cape Wrath, Buchan and West Freugh.

Purpose of Role

· The role requires a significant amount of travelling, overnight stays and working alone.
· Support additional maintenance contracts and/or business opportunities as required within, and when necessary beyond, the region. This may include overseas assignments not exceeding 3 months.

Principle Accountabilities

· Perform planned preventive maintenance activities on all Air Traffic Management Technical Services electronic equipment installed at all Service Delivery Sites and Service Enabling Sites within the Scottish Region.
· Perform corrective maintenance activities on all Air Traffic Management Technical Services electronic equipment installed at all Service Delivery Sites and Service Enabling Sites within the Scottish Region.
· Undertake and successfully complete all training required to complete preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
· Maintain clear and accurate legal records and competency ratings for all activities and incidents which affect the operation in accordance with the Aquila Management System.
· Fully brief and supervise contractors ensuring their compliance with the Aquila management System.
· Conduct post incident procedures to aid the provision of Incident Reports in the event of a safety related incident.
· During the transition period, and when not carrying out maintenance activities on Air Traffic Management Technical Services electronic equipment, there may be a requirement to provide engineering support for legacy Temporary Technical Services within the region as demanded by operational requirements.

Experience, Qualifications and Skills


Essential

· Electronic engineering qualification to ONC/BTEC Level 3 or above.
· Electronic engineering operations experience within Air Traffic Management environment.
· Must have current knowledge of, and experience with, computer based communications, radar, navaids, information systems, network management, display systems and other relevant Military Airfield systems and their associated control and monitoring facilities.
· Ability to work on own initiative and possess effective judgement skills in order to maintain operational services in a safety critical environment.
· Adaptable, flexible and responsive to business needs at possible short notice and in alternative locations.
· Must be able to prioritise under pressure, be technically competent to work on a wide range of equipment and have a logical approach to problem solving.
· Must have effective oral and communication skills with the ability to present information accurately and succinctly to customers and suppliers who may not have the same level of operational engineering understanding.
· A degree of commercial awareness in order to appreciate what impact a facility failure would have on our customers and possess a good understanding internal relationships and dependencies on the ATM engineering systems which they are called to work upon.
· Full, valid, UK driving licence (Max 3 points).
· Be willing and physically able to climb and work at height.
· Eligible to obtain or currently hold UK SC Clearance.
