The Role

Tesla Energy is looking for a test lead to implement and operate a test environment to ensure functionality and reliability of the server based application environment. The application environment provides a backend for web UI and mobile Apps, stores user information, system configuration, collects status and logs from Energy Storage systems and provides update services. The goal is to have a fully automated validation and deployment infrastructure. You will work with internal and external groups to define the test scope for the required testing. You will create and manage the test plan, test cases, test setups, run tests when required, analyze and present data, and work with development engineers on root cause analysis on failures.

Responsibilities

oOwn the automated application test environment

oWork with the development team on design for test standards and requirements

oEnsure that all tests complete in line with the release plan.

oDevelop validation and release infrastructure with Connected Systems team

oDefine automated test environment, test setups, test cases

oDevelop and run tests when required.

oData analysis, report writing, and presentation.

oRoot cause analysis of failures.

oCollaboration with development and design engineers to remedy failures.

Desired profile

Requirements

oPassionate about quality and software testing

o3+ years of software test experience (preferably with server based applications)

oExperience leading test efforts

oExperience with UFT, SilkTest, eggplant and/or equivalent

oStrong engineering fundamentals and intuition, and the ability to perform root cause analysis of failures.

oDevelopment experience in Python and other scripting tools

oMS or BS in CS or EE or related engineering discipline.

Desired

oWorking understanding of how grid tied storage systems function and interact with the grid

oExperience with renewable energy products and/or electricity distribution systems
