Program Manager, Production Control, External Warehouses

The Role

Tesla Motors is seeking a motivated, experienced, and knowledgeable Program Manager to support the external warehousing supply chain network. The External Warehouse Program Manager responsibilities include inbound receiving, efficient warehousing and outbound just-in-time order fulfillment to the Fremont production lines. This role also must develop strong relations with the third party logistics (3PL) suppliers while also serving as the single point of contact for internal customers at the Fremont plant. You will work cross-functionally with Global Supply Management, Logistics, Material Planning, Production Control, Finance, Quality and Facilities to oversee and direct Tesla priorities through a 3PL managed external warehouse.

A successful candidate will need to be proficient in using the MES, Warp Drive and PINC systems used to support materials management. They will need to be able to review bills of materials, on-hand inventory levels and open orders. He/she should be skilled in estimating cost and schedule impacts of material changes. He/she should be able to communicate effectively in order to collaborate with partner organizations: engineering, purchasing & operations.

Responsibilities

· Manage inbound receiving, storage and order picking for the materials for supported internal Tesla production line to portfolio of parts.

· Work with 3PL providers in the external warehouses to establish the appropriate delivery quantity and frequency for Just-In-Time delivery and line-side pull signals; coordinate with Supply Chain Specialist and Logistics as needed.

· Identify root cause of inventory variances, and reduce inventory exposure risks by aligning supply chain processes.

· Understand and monitor the ordering signal from production, identify escalate any BOM issues, and resolve inventory discrepancies in ERP system.

· Assist in implementing systematic solutions to control inventory flow, minimize shortages, and maintain accuracy in Yard Management system. . You are responsible for the inventory accuracy on your parts.

· Work continuously with a highly cross-functional team environment involving manufacturing and planning teams, as well as supply chain specialists, material flow engineers, and logistics personnel.

· Generate and publish key performance metrics on the warehouse/parts you own.

Requirements

· BA/BS degree (engineering discipline preferred), or the equivalent in experience and evidence of exceptional ability.

· 1-3 years related experience in production control, materials management, production planning, logistics, within a manufacturing company.

· Experience in leading in a 3PL working relationship.

· Ability to balance a diverse work portfolio and dynamically prioritize tasks based on the trade-off between urgency (respond to a line down situation) and importance (make sure supply base setup for start of production)

· Analytical capabilities including data analysis to optimize delivery costs and inventory levels (Strong MS Excel Skills desired).
