DEPARTMENT:

This position reports to our Controls Subsea Services department in Houston, TX. Controls Services Engineering group is responsible for the upfront and execution engineering work of CDM and IWOCS assets such as subsea control modules (SCMs), SCM running tools, subsea power and communication test units (SPCTUs), SCM test stands, SCM flushing plates, hydraulic power units, intermediate logic caps, multiple quick connectors (MQC), sensor harnesses, and electrical flying leads. The scope of work for these assets includes inspections, refurbishments, upgrades, testing, modifications, mobilization, demobilization, and preservation.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Ā·  Manages the technical scope of delivering a full or partial equipment list as provided by Project Manager
Ā·  On time delivery of entire scope of assigned project.
Ā·  Project status reporting.
Ā·  No direct reports, but often leads one or more professionals or technicians on a project basis.
Ā·  Participates as a fully contributing member of a project team. Often leads projects or the solving of problems.
Ā·  Develops strong relationships with customer and technical service personnel.
Ā·  Shares opinions, ideas and resources with others to achieve common goals; fosters teamwork and collaboration, builds trust.
Ā·  Interprets and applies relevant policies & procedures.
Ā·  Analyzes and interprets data independently. Anticipates potential problems and takes preventative action. Participates in the project planning and schedule process.

MAIN TASKS:

Ā·  Performs visual inspection of equipment as needed
Ā·  Prepares and/or assigns work instructions to Service Orders
Ā·  Creates/updates engineering documentation under the guidance of Engineering Technical Leads
Ā·  Creates Service Orders for assigned projects
Ā·  Call out components required for scope completion
Ā·  Provide troubleshooting support for Work in Progress as needed
Ā·  Supports Field non-conformance investigations
Ā·  Participates in planning and scheduling projects.
Ā·  Consults with other departments on equipment designs and questions. Identifies root cause of problems. Develops alternative solutions and communicates associated benefits and risks.
Ā·  Prepares reports on engineering project assignments.
Ā·  Participates in product and task standardization projects.

REQUIREMENTS:

Ā·  BS degree in Engineering required; For Topside Controls: BS degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or equivalent preferred
Ā·  Generally 2+ years of experience in the field
Ā·  Working knowledge of specific process technologies, procedures, products and applications.
Ā·  Design engineering plans evaluating the effectiveness, safety, and economic impact of designs and developing recommendations to optimize results, as needed.
Ā·  Strong computer proficiency with applicable software applications in related field.
Ā·  Advanced analytical and problem solving. Beginning to utilize prevention skills.
Ā·  Accuracy and attention to detail important.
Ā·  Ability to establish deadlines for self and manage priorities is critical.
Ā·  Make recommendations related to requirement changes. Gaining an understanding of the impact on other projects.
Ā·  Strong written and verbal communication skills in English are important.
Ā·  Ability to work in a team-oriented environment is important.
Ā·  Ability to build effective relationships with peers and co-workers and customers.
Ā·  Proficiently communicate ideas and concepts with ability to persuade and influence others as needed.
Ā·  Has some customer contact, usually with supervision. Prepare and deliver presentations.
Ā·  Effective understanding and communication within diverse cultural environments is critical.
Ā·  Possess good PC skills and knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software
Ā·  Embodies a customer-oriented attitude and the ability to work independently without close supervision
TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
Houston Operating Procedures. Teamcenter Engineering
Takes required FMC training courses as outlined in the Department's Training Plan.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Office environment, with frequent exposure to Workshop Environment. Possible exposure to hazards such as noise, heavy equipment, temperature extremes, high pressure chemicals, etc. while working in Engineering laboratory, assembly areas and field service applications.Fast paced environment with repetitive transactions. Multiple priorities and constant change.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Spends 60% of time sitting and operating a computer or workstation. Spends 40% of time lifting, pushing, and walking. Some climbing.
