Measurement Solutions / Aftermarket

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Field Service Technicians – Level II will provide FMC Measurement Solutions customers with technical expertise and solutions. A Level II Field Service Technician will respond to customers via phone and on-site to troubleshoot, perform diagnostic tests, calibrate, perform repairs, and provide technical knowledge on most Smith Meter products as well as peripheral products and systems.

MAIN TASKS:
From a technical perspective, a Field Service Engineer will assist with project estimates, write job quotations, execute invoicing to goal, and provide technical support. Perform in-house product repair as required, warranty administration, and electronic board repair. Assist with the creation and maintenance of product literature, as well as contribute to customer training curriculum. Assist with managing departmental assets (e.g. tools, test fixtures, and demo equipment). Accurately report departmental utilization, recovery, repair activity, and warranty cost to the Field Service Manager. Performance objectives are to maintain quality standards, productivity, and profitability through the performance goals of the department set by the Company.

REQUIREMENTS:
High School diploma and 2-year Associate Degree or 4-year degree with a focus on mechanical or electrical competencies. OR equivalent experience.
Typically, 3-5 years in a Field Service Technician role with prior experience working in electrical, mechanical, or similar vocational trainingpreferred. Strong oral and written communication, interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills. Must possess proper soldering techniques, electronic component diagnostics, and use of electronic circuit test equipment. Must possess superior electronic and/or mechanical repair aptitude. Familiarity with microprocessor based circuitry and programming techniques. Leadership capability and good aptitude. Knowledge of various aspects of a Field Service Organization. Strong Personal Computer skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Daily use of personal computer and technical manuals. Frequent use of mechanical and diagnostic tools. Physicalrequirements of the position could be (i.e. lifting, pushing, climbing), travel required as well as on call schedule from time to time.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Spends majority of work time in the field at client site facilities, open skids, Control rooms where person's expertise is required. Would be exposed to possible hazards including high noise, heavy machinery, and inclement weather – where safety equipment is required. Would be required to do frequent international travel.
