Cost Controller 1

Claremont (Los Angeles County) CA

As a Cost Controller 1 you will work under direct supervision to prepare and monitor budgets, commitments, actuals, invoicing, deviation tracking, trend analysis, cash flow, forecasts, and revenue projections for projects. Typical project types include Engineering Studies, Process Design Packages (PDP), Front-End Engineering Design (FEED), Basic Design Packages (BDP), Detailed Engineering & Procurement (EP), and Engineer-Procure-Construct (EPC) efforts. You will be starting your Project Controls career with a passion to learn the tools of project management and a desire to be mentored and grow your career in Project Controls.

Responsibilities:

· 
Development and setup of the project budget, setup and maintenance of tools to monitor commitments and actual expenditures, review invoices for completeness, calculate project cash flow, and preparation of the project estimate at completion (EAC) forecast.

· 
Occasionally lead cost and revenue status meetings for small projects and participate in cost and revenue status meetings for medium size projects.

· 
Periodic reviews of work product with senior project and department leaders. Interface with engineering discipline leaders and procurement management and occasionally interface with construction and subcontracts.

· 
Work closely with the project and company finance group to ensure the budgets, commitments, actuals, invoices, deviations, trend analyses, cash flow, forecasts, and revenue forecasts are reconciled on a regular basis.

· 
Implement department work methods, guidelines, tools, and procedures on small and medium projects.

· 
Assist in development of department initiatives related to cost control tools and templates.

Must Have Skills:

· 
Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience in lieu of degree

· 
0-2 years of cost control experience in the energy industry

· 
Advanced skills with MS Excel software

Nice to Have Skills:

· 
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Finance, Accounting, General Business or related field

· 
AACE International certification or working knowledge of AACE recommended practices in the areas of Cost Control or general Project Controls

· 
Exposure to MS Access software

· 
Exposure to MS Power BI software

· 
Exposure to MS PowerPoint software

· 
Experience with in-house or third-party cost control and/or accounting and finance software

· 
Exposure to EcoSys Enterprise Project Performance (EPP) software

· 
Exposure to Oracle Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software

· 
Exposure to quantitative risk analysis techniques for cost forecasts

· 
Experience with change management process

· 
Exposure to topics in the energy transition business
