Job description

We're currently looking for Fashion and textiles interns to join us on 3 - 6 month placements in 2017.

We offer internships to UK based students and welcome students who have an interest in the fashion sector and textiles industry.

Purpose of the role:
To assist the Sweet FA team in all aspects of the business. Including fabric cutting and finishing for various productions including; Costumes and sampling, wedding garments, scarf productions, displays and home ware.

Main Duties and responsibilities:
This is a unique opportunity to work for one of only a handful textile firms in the UK that specializes in all areas and work with some of the most prestigious brands in London. Our clients include, Rockins, Lisa King, Planarama, Ted Baker, ITV studios and academy costumes.

You will get to work alongside the whole team in our Camden head studio, experiencing all aspects of the business from being integral in our productions, to assisting with our specialist team upstairs that deal with costumes and sampling.

We endeavour to give our interns a well-rounded experience and welcome their input. Where possible we will get you to observe production and strategy meetings with our team and clients.

Knowledge and Skills required:
You will need to have a keen eye for detail, be able to work diligently and independently. You will need to be able to manage your time effectively and approach all tasks with enthusiasm but not be afraid to ask for help.

Ideally you will have an inherent interest in learning about pattern cutting, design and sewing.

We like our interns to be well organised, professional and friendly in their manner, but most importantly reflect a desire to learn. Experience in industrial sewing machines, pattern cutting and hand sewing is preferred.

Sweet Fa internship vacancies available only;

9 January 2016- 23 January 2016; Monday- Friday, 9.30- 5.30

1 February 2016- 1 May 2016; Tuesday- Thursday, 9.30- 5.30, Fridays, 9.00 - 4.30.

29 May 2016- 31 August 2016; Tuesday- Thursday, 9.30- 5.30, Fridays, 9.00 - 4.30.

Past interns:

We have had the pleasure of welcoming over 50 interns to our team over the years and we genuinely feel the experience had been mutually beneficial with each and every one. Nearly half of our full-time team were once interns of ours! Others have gone on to pursue careers in the fashion industry, work freelance for some of the largest brands in the UK and others have even got into marketing and admin in the textiles industry.

Hard work is rewarded, and we also pay £20 per day to cover expenses
