Our collaboration

Patent Engineer or Patent Attorney in the IP team supporting the ST Microcontrollers & Digital ICs Group for IP protection.

Your primary objective is to interface and work closely with Business Units Management, Product Development and Marketing teams for developing and sustaining their motivation for innovation protection. You will also ensure the development of a high quality IPR related portfolio, and its relevance from a strategic viewpoint.

On the ST side, ensuring awareness trainings, developing tuned protection strategies considering business and IP perspectives, tracking and reviewing running projects so as to methodically detect, identify and extract technical solutions and successfully capture valuable innovation to be protected through IPRs, and develop/tune the IPR portfolio content to optimize its relevance.

Ensuring high quality of the patent portfolio, driving and supervising sub-contracting IP Firms for drafting / conducting subsequent patent prosecution, and performing periodical review and tuning of the existing patent portfolio.

Depending on the candidates’ experience, support on other IP matters may be added.

Part time remote working may possibly be allowed, in line with the company guidance.

 

Profile

Your Profile

Gratuated in master in Electronics, Microelectronics, Semiconductor physics, Information Technology or comparable.

You have the ability to work in autonomy, you are proactive and you have team-work approaches, interpersonal and communication skills are essential.

You have a Basic or Advanced Knowledge of IP Laws. Junior candidates with CEIPI or equivalent diploma will be considered. Training on IP Laws and practice will be provided, through internal coaching and attendance to external IP-related and/or attorney examination courses, at need.

Few years experienced as in-house attorney either in a Company or in an IP Firm. Preferably some experience in drafting, prosecuting and managing patent portfolio.

Fluent in French and/or Italian (position in France or possibly in Italy for experienced Italian speaking candidates). Fluent in English. 

Availability to travel from time to time, to develop direct contacts, visit and support ST inventors located abroad, primarily in European countries, possibly in Asia and US.
