Role Overview

The lab tech/quality coordinator will support the Solvay site in Longview, Washington. This is a duel role, providing support to the lab 50% and support to our quality department 50%.

Key Responsibilities:

·  Perform standard lab analyses, calculations, and data logging in support of plant operations including (but not limited to):
·  HPLC analysis
·  Gas chromatography
·  TC (Total Carbon) production samples
·  Phosphate analysis
·  Product stabilities
·  Retain testing
·  Environmental effluent analysis
·  H2O2 tank analysis
·  Working solution analysis.
·  Package and ship raw material and finished goods samples according to domestic and international (when applicable) regulations.
·  Support the Sr. Lab Technician in approving raw materials by evaluating COA’s, performing analysis, shipping samples to external laboratories, and signing raw material approval forms.
·  Support the Sr. Lab Technician in finished goods analysis to ensure final product and customer specifications are upheld.
·  Lead the site to meet all corporate and site quality objectives.
·  Ensure Longview KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) are updated and published each month.
·  Lead quarterly QMS (Quality Management System) meetings with Longview management and quality team.
·  Track and follow up on customer complaints by analyzing root cause of complaint and working with the manufacturing and logistics departments to address root cause and relevant actions.
·  Support vendor non-conformance reports concerning raw materials and quality issues.
·  Ensure the site maintains ISO 9001 certification and follows the RCMS (Responsible Care Management System).
·  Perform internal audits of the Longview (and potentially North American region) facility to ensure the plant meet the criteria of ISO 9001 and RCMS. Coordinate registrar and customer audits.
·  Lead the Innovation Team by quarterly review of Got It! submissions, follow up on ideas, and motivating the Longview site to continuously improve.
·  Ensure company continuous improvement/quality goals and objectives are achieved.
·  Stay organized and maintain balance between lab role and quality role.

Desired qualifications:

·  High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required, and preferably an associates or bachelor’s degree in chemistry or at least 3 years of related experience.
·  Proficient in Microsoft Office suite applications.
·  Proficient in Google Sheets, Docs, Slides, and Forms.
·  Proficient in basic computer skills.
·  Strong and effective oral and written communications and demonstrated problem solving skills.
·  Ability to collaborate and work with different roles such as maintenance and operations personnel.
·  Ability to stay organized and engaged during work hours.
·  Constant, concise and accurate use of the English language when communicating orally and in writing.
·  Physically handle delicate instrumentation equipment, performing tasks requiring simultaneous movement of both hands and eye coordination while in a standing or sitting position.
·  Perform mathematical calculations (basic algebra) for laboratory analysis.
·  Perform under stress when confronted with emergency or critical deadlines in which working speed and accuracy along with sustained attention are critical for success.
·  Near acute vision with the ability to read normal size type within 20 inches, with or without corrective lenses. Additionally, adequate depth perception is required to read and interpret laboratory instrumenta
