The mission of the Marketing & Sales function is to maximize value creation for Solvay by delivering high level market and sales expertise. Its aim is to spread best practices and to map out growth opportunities and the best ways to leverage them throughout Solvay, in line with the GBU's needs.
Job Overview and Responsibilities
The intern will be in charge of development of Market Intelligence based on both qualitative and quantitative research:
· : the junior analyst intern will be in charge of collecting relevant news gathered in a daily newsletter sent to key stakeholders in the group. Based on this newsfeed and other targeted reading, the junior analyst will also write blog posts on key market insights to alert Solvay management. The topics are broad: from financial results, merger and acquisition, partnerships, industrial footprint, research and development. Data management and strategic intelligence: the junior analyst will have the opportunity to learn more about the functioning of our “data lake”. This latter provides relevant data sources of monthly macroeconomic and industrial indicators such as productions and sales indexes; financial and macroeconomic indicators like GDP and CPI. He or she will be in charge of regular update of those sources through manual extraction or automatic extraction. He or she will also help building and updating figures on dashboards based on this data for our monthly report. Lastly, the research of new key indicators for markets, countries or regions will be a part of the mission, in collaboration with analytics and big data team (IT).
Education and Experience
Required degree: Soon or newly graduate of a master degree in Chemical Engineering or another Engineering degree, Economics or Data Science, looking for an internship of 6-month minimum
Strong analytical skills.
Human qualities: rigorous, curious, listening ability, flexibility, communication and clarity, strong capacity for analysis and synthesis.
Programming languages (Python, SQL,..), data management
