Job description

The Polymer Additives business unit of Solvay has an opening for a Research and Innovation chemist at its Stamford Research Laboratories in Connecticut. The person in this position will participate in a dynamic group involved in developing new stabilizer technology platforms and introducing new stabilizer technologies for polyolefins and other engineering resins. The research and formulation work is targeted to market segments in automotive, building and construction, geo-membranes, agricultural films, and general molding applications, etc.

Major Responsibilities:
- Be the technical lead for new technology and product development in polymer stabilization
- Develop all technical data required in projects
- Stay up-to-date with technical development in core market segments
- Develop skills to run New Product Introduction (NPI) projects as project leader (stage/gate)
- Provide appropriate recommendation of Polymer Additives products to customers
- Visit customers, present at conferences, and gather information of customer/market needs

Education Required:
Ph.D. in Chemistry or relevant science or engineering field. (Will hire someone right out of school)
