Your environment
At Societe Generale, you will be joining the Information Technology division of Global Banking & Investors Solutions (GBIS), one of the three pillars of SG that brings together Corporate and Investment Banking activities, Private Banking activities, Asset Management and Investor Services.

Description of the Business Line or Department
As part of its sales strategy, SGSS intends to reinforce its capabilities in UK a with a global product offering.
Additionally to traditional asset managers, pension funds and insurance companies, SGSS also targets hybrid wealth managers, i.e. advisers, stockbrokers, private client investment managers, private banks.
In this context, The IT department is in charge of providing a front-to-back wealth management solution which comprises of a consolidated service provision supporting integrated capital market execution services (equities, FX ...), middle & back-office, segregated, portfolio processing, master books and records, clearing, settlement & custody (Depositary) and fund services
Summary of the key purposes of the role
Developer in support of our primary wealth management application
- JHC Figaro, and in support of other applications within the SGSS UK domain.
Providing new developments and maintaining existing developments using SQL queries, Unix/Linux shell scripting, iSeries scripting, VBA macros, VBS scripting, Windows Powershell scripting, ObjectIf Lune PlanetPress and other appropriate development tools and technologies.
Assisting our business users, test analysts and production support teams with technical investigation in support of the SGSS UK applications.
Providing technical support and administration to the SGSS UK TEST applications and services.
Providing technical administration for the configuration and setup of the JHC Figaro platform.
Assisting in the technical on boarding of new clients on to the SGSS UK platforms.
Assisting in the planning of change on the SGSS UK platforms.
Helping to shape the application architecture of the SGSS UK applications.
Your role
Gathering & Analyzing the business requirements
Conducting feasibility study or impact analysis, providing estimates
Working closely with the testing team to defining test plan and test cases
Working closely with the production support team to assist addressing production problems and queries
Working closely with project management to help define project plans and keeping the project informed of progress
Working closely with internal, external and vendor technical teams
Providing support to end-users during User Acceptance Tests
Providing and updating the documentation of the application
Performing some knowledge transfer to the support team
Performing level 2 functional support
Developing reports using a SQL tool
Developing Unix/Windows shell/batch scripts
Developing MS Excel Macros using VBA
Developing automated client electronic comms using ObjectIf Lune PlanetPress
Developing using other tools as appropriate
Performing unit testing
Assisting with the management and deployment of technical and business configuration
Assisting with the management and deployment of deployments and releases of both internal and external software
Ensuring ITEC standards are enforced
The VIE assignment in a nutshell
This VIE in London is to begin as soon as possible but you need to plan 3 months between your application date and the beginning of your VIE assignment. It will last 12 months.
The VIE is a specific contract, under Business France’s eligibility criteria, opened to candidates under 28 and from the member states of the European Economic Space. For further information, please see www.civiweb.com.
Your profile
Graduate with a Master degree from Engineering School or University in IT.
A previous experience in Investment Banking would be appreciated.
You are fluent in English.
You are proficient in Office application
Functional knowledge of the wealth management, custody, settlement and fund services
Technical knowledge of the JHC Figaro Applications
Business knowledge of the JHC Figaro Applications, in particular in how they are used in a wealth management context
Technical knowledge of the JHC Figaro data model
Technical knowledge how to configure the JHC Figaro platform
Being able to read Conceptual and Physical Database Models
Being able to write Excel VBA macros
Being able to write simple Unix and/or Windows batch scripts
Being able to gather requirements and propose corresponding IT solutions
Being able document procedures associated to any developed IT solutions
Understand the Software Development Life Cycle
Experience of IBM iSeries and/or DB2
Experience of Unix/Linux operating system
Experience of stakeholder management across both technical and business resources
Experience of working closely with test, production, project management teams.
