The Parasolid group is part of Siemens Industry Software, who specialise in providing software products to support all facets of the manufacturing industry.

Parasolid is a 3D modelling toolkit used in hundreds of the world’s leading Computer Aided Design, Engineering and Manufacturing programs. Parasolid has been at the cutting edge of 3D design for over 30 years and boasts a wide range of technology leaders and household names (such as Apple, Red Bull F1, Lego, Canon, Dyson, SpaceX) designing their products on systems powered by Parasolid. With over 4 million engineers and designers using Parasolid-based applications daily, you are rarely more than a metre away from a product designed with Parasolid geometry.

Where are we?

We are based in Cambridge, UK, close to the central railway station. It’s easy to get to by foot, bike, car, bus or train. We’re next door to the beautiful Botanical Gardens and a few minutes’ walk from the historical centre of town.

Why are we recruiting?

Over the last 30+ years we have invested heavily in tools to improve the development and management of our products. Our internal web tools are vital to the success of the Parasolid products. We are continually generating new ideas for web tools and ways to improve existing tools, and we need extra help in realising these innovations.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for an experienced web developer to lead a dynamic team through the development process, but who also likes to get their hands dirty in the code.

This role would involve planning out the work of the group along with developing the team by providing guidance and training for new and existing members.

Applicants should have a keen interest in the full product lifecycle; requirements gathering, designing solutions, implementation, delivery, and be skilled in writing scalable and maintainable web solutions. If this sounds like you, let us know.

How do we develop?

The web tools team is made up of 3-4 Parasolid developers who spend a portion of their time working together improving and developing new tools. This is typically done as a sprint, but we allow the team to choose the most efficient method.

Everyone has their own desk, a PC with plenty of RAM and CPU power and a couple of monitors.

The web tools are mainly written in C#.NET and hosted via IIS with an SQL server back-end. There are some legacy pages written in ASP.NET which need occasional surgery to continue running!
