Job Specification

Position: Tendering Engineer TS Installation& Commissioning Location: SWSH Manchester & Monkton

Purpose: To deliver a comprehensive and competitive Installation& Commissioningproposal incorporating Value Add & Cost reductionin support of theMaster Bid whilst demonstrating value for money by being benchmarked against external sub-contractors.

Attributes: To be a proactive Bid capture team member fostering a collaborative and professional relationship with Installation& Commissioningteam and interdepartmental colleagues within the Proposals, Commercials, Operations, Engineering, Planning, SHEQ,Procurement and project management colleagues. Attention to detail is essentail as is the ability to engage and develop with new business tools and databases eg Itwo.

Role:

· Support the TS proposals team, participate in Bid Capture team K-O meetings, support Bid Managers in providing M&E site installation estimates (in both Excel and iTWO formats) and technical support requirements during compilation of SEA,Grid Access and HVDC bids
· Review and incorporate Clients “Employers Requirements” / TQ’s etc. into the Installation & Commissioningcostestimates and proposalsbased on Commercial sheet info rates
· Provide supporting written comprehensive Installation & Commissioningcost estimate assoc. T&C’s
· Undertake site visit / reports assoc. with Installation & Commissioningsite installation scope
· Review and comply with SAG / SUK DoR’s
· Provide Installation & Commissioningcost estimate breakdown in both UK & SAG WBS formats
· Provide Labour + Material Installation & Commissioningcost estimate profiling to deliver input into SAG Manpower sheet
· Provide input into Installation & Commissioning site installation Risk Register
· Complete Installation & Commissioningcost estimate 4-eyes review with Construction Support Manager
· Provide Installation & Commissioning site resource forward loading chart
· Populate Clients Pricing Schedules as required
· Attend and participate inConstructability Review Workshops
· Attend and engage in PACT Workshop meeting and contribute to Installation & Commissioning'Risk & Opportunity” considerations
· Attend and engage in Risk Workshop meetings
· Assist in translating Installation & Commissioningcost estimate WBS into SAP Network numbers based site budget
· Provide Installation & Commissioningsite installation cost estimates associated with post contract Client’s variations
·
Develop and promote the Itwo acativity based cost etimating module via site visits cjahllenging and reviewing existing cost vases and site practises to ensure accurate and competitive cost bases are able to be used .

Experience:

· Previous experience in providing cost proposals / tenders related to site installation and commissioning / supply of associated equipment relevant to the Power Transmission and Distribution Markets .
· Proven capability to engage and develop new databases.
· Suitable exposure to site installation activities.
· Ability to work with Engineering
· SLD’s, KLD’s, Site layouts, elevations, detail drawings, Wiring Schedules BoQ’s etc.
· Familiar with AC Substation Installations covering -
· HV & MV AIS primary equipment / structures / conductors etc.
· HV & MV HIS outdoor primary equipment / structures / conductors etc.
· HV & MV GIS indoor primary equipment / structures / conductors etc.
· MSCDN’s ,
· SVC’s (containerized and open rack) including assoc. cooling system,
· LV Secondary AC + DC equipment,
· LV cable management and assoc. power and control cables
· Above & below ground earthing
· Chemical Anchor installation
· Site Management / Establishment / Plant + Equipment hire
· Familiar with AC Offshore Substation Platform (OSP) and Offshore Transformer Module (OTM) installations covering:
· HV & MV GIS indoor primary equipment within Containers
· LV Secondary AC + DC equipment within Containers
· HV & MV Primary equipment on OTM skids
· HV & MV Busduct installations on OTM skids
· LV cable management and assoc. power and control cables
· Above & below ground earthing
· Site Management / Establishment / Plant + Equipment hire
· Familiar with DC Converter Station installations covering –
· HV & MV AC primary equipment / structures / conductors located in Converter Hall, DC Hall etc.,
· LV Secondary AC + DC equipment
· LV cable management and assoc. power and control cables
· Above & below ground earthing
· Chemical Anchor installation
· Site Management / Establishment / Plant + Equipment hire
· ability to provide site installation time footprints into shared construction programme

Interfacing with internal departments:

Civil – adhere to “Civil to M&E handover DoR” to minimise scope gaps

Engineering – review drawing info pack and BoQ and highlight errors

Planning - identify programme site activity errors, omissions, incorrect activity durations etc.

Procurement – review SAG offered GIS and HIS equipment and site services to ensure no scope gaps nor duplications

SAG Networking: foster ongoing relationships whilst encouraging best practice sharing with SAG colleagues

Site Installation norms: incorporate approved site installation norms within Installation & Commissioningsite estimate and expand data base to capture introduction of new equipment requirement

Lessons Learnt: review LL and incorporate findings into Installation & Commissioningestimate calc. sheet

Innovative Thinking / Challenging the Design: be proactive in offering cost optimisation solutions and be challenging when brainstorming the design proposal in order to deliver best value for money solutions

Value Analysis / Engineering review: undertake site visits to identify potential cost savings in reviewing site installed equipment, challenging existing practises in a collabotrative manner in support of developing the Itwo database.

Added Value Field Service Opportunities within TS: identify site delivery opportunities to consider expansion of in-house site delivery capabilities where ever practicable
