Mechanical Design Engineer

Job description

We are recruiting for a Mechanical Design Engineer with experience in either gas turbines or their ancillary systemst o join our engineering division based in Lincoln, supporting our Industrial Turbomachinery business within Siemens. We have a fantastic opportunity for an individual to work in a friendly team environment, investigating reportedequipment faults to understand their root cause and to develop design solutions required to prevent their recurrence on production units and across existing fleets. We are looking for a confident, experienced, self-motivated and capable designer/engineer with excellent attention to detail, who is willing to take on additional responsibility

What are my responsibilities?

· To lead engineering fault report investigations, both minor and major.
· To Mentor and guide more junior members of staff
· To take on added responsibility when required, including deputising for our Package Fault Report Group Leader.
· Front meetings/reviews from a technical perspective, including ones involving external suppliers and customers
· Demonstrate an awareness of internal/external customer and business needs
· Set clear objectives, plans and priorities accordingly
· To act in a way which minimises any negative impact to Siemens and its customers.
· Maximise the performance/effectiveness of the team

What do you need to qualify for the job?

· Engineering Degree or HNC/HND with work experience
· Solid experience of working with gas turbines and/or systems and knowledge of the design/ operation of such products and/ or their ancillary systems/packages
· Strong experience of Siemens fault investigation, design, configuration control and change control processes, plus their associated computer based systems (SAP, UG, Team Centre)
· Proven ability to conduct and/or project manage high priority and technically complex investigations, plus their solutions, through stages 1 to 6 of the Siemens PIP process
