Job description

Who are we?

The PLM Components group is part of Siemens Industry Software, who specialise in providing software products to support all facets of the manufacturing industry.

PLM Components are a suite of 3D geometrics modelling products used in hundreds of the world’s leading Computer Aided Design, Engineering and Manufacturing programs. Our products have been at the cutting edge of 3D design and manufacture for over 30 years, with a wide range of technology leaders and household names, such as Apple, SpaceX, Red Bull F1, Daimler, Canon, and Dyson, designing their products on systems powered by PLM Components. Over 5 million engineers and designers using applications based on our technology daily, and you are rarely more than a metre away from a product designed with PLM Components.

Where are we?

We are based in Cambridge, UK, close to the central railway station. It’s easy to get to by foot, bike, car, bus or train. We’re next door to the Botanical Gardens and a few minutes’ walk from the historic centre of town.

Who are we looking for?

We’re looking for enthusiastic and innovative individuals, with a strong interest in software development, to work on our Parasolid, D-Cubed and Geolus products. Our ideal candidates would have the following:-

· Working towards or recently having obtained a degree in Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science or related discipline.
· Experience of at least one programming language, ideally C++, Java or C
· Ability to work effectively in a team or on your own

If you are passionate about problem solving and writing software, have good working knowledge of maths and a willingness to learn, then we would love to hear from you.

What is the role?

You will be working alongside our software engineers as part of a small team, helping to provide the best solutions for our customers. While with us you will have the opportunity to work within our product development environment designed to produce high quality, state of the art, commercial software.

Our products are written in C, C++, and Java but we often use other languages, like python and C#, for in-house tools. We use Visual Studio for some products and our in-house development environment for others, along with a variety of commercial and home grown tools to speed up the development process.

Why work for Siemens?

Siemens offers competitive salaries and a great working environment. We work 37.5 hours per week, have flexible working hours and the dress code is casual.

We have over 200 employees in our Cambridge office working on a broad range of software products. There will be the opportunity to interact with other groups and learn about their products and processes.

There is an active social scene with a wide variety of clubs and social events.
