Job description

We have an opening for a Software Engineer, based in our Siemens Industry Software offices in Cambridge, UK. This position involves working on the NX CAD product in the Assembly Modelling team.

The opportunity involves design and programming for the NX CAD product with focus on surpassing customer expectations and achieving high quality and on-time delivery. The employee will create, document and execute software designs for focused product areas. Some customer interaction may be required.

The position involves working in a local team of 10 highly qualified software engineers as well as collaborating with a wider group located in the USA, Europe and India. The working environment is flexible and discussion of problems and solutions with other members of the team is encouraged.

The duties and responsibilities include:

· Contribute individually or in a team as needed to meet the requirements of various projects
· Design and implementation of assembly modelling capabilities in a world leading mechanical CAD product.
· Solving complex computing and engineering problems.
· Able to write clean, robust and maintainable code to minimize the cost of defects over time
· Maintain existing software code - analyze and resolve customer and internally reported problems
· Work with customersto understand and improve existing code for their area.
· Follow the various steps in the Software Development Lifecycle Process (SDLC), including writing design documents, coding and testing.
· Communication and collaboration within the team and with customers
· Analysis and design of software solutions and algorithms
· Ensure ongoing quality of the product delivered to customers

Prerequisites and Essential Functions

Qualifications:

· Bachelors, Masters or higher degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or other numerate discipline from a reputed institution.
· Product development experience will be a plus, as will familiarity with the software development life cycle.

Skills:

· Strong and detailed knowledge of a high level programming language.
· Understanding of advanced data structures, object orientated analysis and design
· Good analytical and problem solving skills
· Must have demonstrated skills in design and programming
· Desired to have knowledge of advanced algorithms in the CAD/CAM/CAE domain
· Ability and desire to continually improve and learn new areas
