Job description



Provides support in a wide variety of semi-complex technical assignments. Participates in conducting semi-complex tests or investigations pertaining to the development of new designs, methods, materials, or processes and investigates possible application of results. Obtains, correlates, and analyzes technical information needed to accomplish semi-complex tasks. Provides support in preparing reports, charts, graphs, and other documents. Participates in developing designs for a variety of products, processes, and components.

Specific Requirements

Responsibilities and Duties
In this technical role the successful candidate will be part of an R&D team designing, developing and testing electrochemical sensors for new Point of Care assays. A wide range of analytical chemistry and biochemical methodologies will be employed to support the sensor assay development work. Day to day activities will include designing experiments, conducting research, executing method development and process development studies, and performing data analysis to support R&D new product development and verification/validation project phases. A wide range of general chemistry skills and good quantitative ability is required to support these endeavors. The successful candidate will solve technical problems, participate in troubleshooting efforts, and present results to multifunctional teams. Good teamwork and interpersonal skills are essential as the position will involve close collaboration with colleagues. Additional duties include day-to-day upkeep and maintenance of labs, maintaining a laboratory notebook, writing technical reports, internal protocols and SOPs, and keeping up to date with advances in the in vitro diagnostics field. May provide general guidance or train lower level support staff.

Requirements

BSc/BA in chemistry, biology, or related field. Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Previous industry experience in the medical diagnostics field desirable.

Previous experience working with and/or knowledge of electrochemical sensor methods is desirable.

Excellence in general wet chemistry skills is required.

Excellent quantitative skills and working knowledge of basic statistical methods is required.

The candidate must be highly motivated, have the ability to multi-task, and be able to work independently or in a team environment.

Good oral and written communication skills is required.

Proficient in Microsoft Office applications is required.
