This is a role well suited to an ambitious professional, looking for the next step in their career. As a Packaging Engineer, you will be responsible for:
• Responsibility for the design of packaging for components, spare parts and systems for worldwide shipping.
• Implementation of optimization and productivity projects in the environment of the Global Package Engineering Center.
• Lifecycle management (new part requests, discontinuation) of mechanical standard parts
• Consulting of product development in selecting appropriate mechanical standard parts

• Computer-aided development of product-specific packaging under consideration of regulatory as well as logistical and technological requirements including documentation for production and packaging service providers.
• Specify, organize, schedule, execute, evaluate and analyze transport simulation tests
• Implementation of global and local regulatory requirements, especially Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC
• Determination of costs and savings for packaging materials and packaging services.
• Technical advice for internal and external partners, e.g. for delivered packages by external suppliers.
• Coordination of global packaging activities within Healthcare
• Assessment of transport damage and initiation of measures
• Consulting, implementation and evaluation of technical transport monitoring
• Project management of redesign and analysis projects
• Analyses of packaging lifecycle (packaging, transport, reloading, up to
end customer) --> Deriving fields of action / needs / potentials
• Participation in process design for global packaging development processes
• Cooperation in the conception and implementation of global packaging "Baukasten”
• Coordination of harmonization of parts within Siemens Healthineers
Required skills to have for the success of this role
• University degree Bachelor/Master in Mechatronics or Mechanical Engineering
• Experience in the development of medical product packaging
• Experience in cross-disciplinary task processing
• Experience in basic material types and basic materials management
• Knowledge of Healthineers products and processes
• Excellent knowledge of various packaging technologies and packaging materials
• Good knowledge of country-specific regulatory requirements and global standards (e.g. Machinery Directive 2006/ 42/ EC, IEC60721-3-2, ISTA, ASTM, …)
Additional skills to have for success in this role
• University degree Bachelor’s/Master’s in electrical engineering or comparable subject
• Professional experience in electronics, component engineering or as an application engineer
• Good knowledge of mechanical and electronic components used in the manufacturing of medical devices
• Familiar with lifecycle management and lifecycle analysis of electronic components

The pay range for this position in NYC or Westchester County, NY is $101,300 - 127,400 annually; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The annual incentive target is (8%) of base pay. Siemens Healthineers offers a variety of health and wellness benefits including paid time off and holiday pay.
