Job Description

Position Overview

The Mechanical Component Designer will be a part of the Customer Service (CS) and Warranty Technical support group within the Quality Department for Above NEMA Medium Voltage Motors (engineered to order product). This position will provide mechanical engineering support in conceptual and practical service and development of AC induction machine components working directly with Mechanical and Electrical Engineers on customer solutions.

Responsibilities

Complete motor dimension drawings and Bills of Material to support quotations for the CS group and warranty situations

Create and design mechanical design solutions to resolve warranty situations

Provide technical work instruction documents to support field service repair work

Assist in troubleshooting issues experienced in the field to support Warranty group

Prepare clear, complete and accurate detail drawings from rough or detailed sketches, change orders or notes

Communicate/interface as part of the Warranty team with the customer and/or end user to troubleshoot/investigate specific field issues.

Complete complex investigations related to product design and maintenance

Implement improvements in apparent design flaws; recognized from experiences and reoccurring issues in the field

Support Quality Engineers in root cause investigations and corrective actions

Assist R&D and Product Engineering in continuous design improvements or changes as time allows

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology

Proficient in NX12, 3D and 2D, or another major CAD package

Proficient in SAP PP and CC modules (Production Planning and Change Management)

Experience in creating, dimensioning, and tolerancing manufacturing drawings

Working knowledge of Induction motors
Working knowledge of GD&T
