With over 1,900 research operatives worldwide, the Corporate Technology Research in Digitalization and Automation (CT RDA) department (www.ct.siemens.com) occupies a special position within Siemens' R&D facilities. It functions as an international network of expertise and as a global partner for technology and innovations. Through its R&D activities in Germany, USA, China, India, Russia and Eastern Europe, CT RDA helps secure the company's technological future and bolster its competitiveness.

Being part of Business Analytics and Monitoring (BAM) Technology Field of CT RDA, we belong to a passionate community of about 180 researchers, data scientists and architects strive to find solutions for exciting problems in various domains ranging from industry, energy, mobility and buildings to smart cities by applying methods and principles of data sciences such as applied machine learning, mining and pattern recognition of sensor data.

Our research primarily focuses on methods and algorithms for data driven decisions. Typical topics that you would drive as part of our team include, not limited to:
•Ramping-up Center of Competence on Hadoop and related Big Data technologies
•Solve complex business problems using big data technologies such as ◦Mining of large scale machine data for insights on productivity
◦Condition monitoring and anomaly detection in industrial internet

•Design and establish analytics architectures for analyzing data in petabyte scale

What are my responsibilities?
•As an expert of Hadoop and relevant massively parallel technologies, provide solutions to complex technical issues pertaining to the adaption of technologies – including optimization of analytics workflow, feasibility analysis, implementation and integration of the components
•Provide technology-specific expertise in developing blueprints for analytics applications using Big Data infrastructure (especially Hadoop and NoSQL)
•Support the planning and establishment of the in-house Big Data infrastructure and work with international labs on massively parallel deployments
•Closely follow the latest developments in Big Data technologies and be an early adopter
•Be a brand ambassador of the team through close collaborations with other research groups and customers
•Provides guidance and mentoring to less-experienced staff members and mentor graduate student interns in order to address curious questions in our research
•Contribute to joint collaboration projects with academia and international expert groups

What do I need to qualify for this job?
•Masters/Bachelors degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from a reputed institute with real-world experience of at least 3 years in developing Big Data and analytics applications
•Proven expertise in designing and programming large scale data driven solutions using any of the high level programming languages viz. Java/Python/Scala (at least 6 years)
•Hands-on experience and expert level knowledge in advanced data management technologies offered by HDP (e.g. HDFS, Hive, Tez, YARN, Pig) and optimization techniques is a must
•Active contributions to open source technologies of Big Data will be a great advantage
•Project experience and deep know-how in following technologies are highly desired: ◦Distributed stream processing engines and data stores (Storm, Spark, Cassandra, MongoDB)
◦Enterprise Big Data offerings (SAP HANA, Teradata)
◦Data mining and reporting tools (R, Weka, Tableau, TIBCO Spotfire)

•Strong problem solving, communication and team working skills
•Self-driven, results-oriented and highly motivated to work with cross-culture teams
