Job description

Siemens ITS offer solutions such as: Traffic Control using up to date cloud based computing, Road Safety using the latest camera technology, Service Operation and Electronic Vehicle Charging Infrastructure.

As a Higher Apprentice, you will experience work in a broad range of departments with a rotational placement programme enabling you to build up relevant knowledge and experience. The rotation will include Engineering (design and development), Field/Operational Services (customer solutions run and supported by Siemens) and our on-site award winning Factory (with a wide range of opportunities).

To ensure continuity throughout your apprenticeship and related departmental rotations our dedicated on-site Training School will act as a key point of contact and provide you with a dedicated mentor.

What are my responsibilities?

A Higher Apprenticeship at Siemens ITS takes four years to complete:

Year 1 will be college based (and include work placements at Siemens ITS during term breaks) to achieve an HNC and to undertake PEO units (Performing Engineering Operations).

Year 2 is work based at Siemens ITS with day release at college to undertake the 2nd year of HNC and to commence NVQ level 4.

Year 3 and 4 is full-time based at Siemens Traffic Solutions, to complete NVQ level 4.

What do I need to qualify for this job?

· A levels (Grades A* - C). We also welcome equivalents such as BTEC Level 3 Certificate with an overall merit or distinction.
· An enthusiasm for a career in engineering/manufacturing.
· An ability to work within different departments and team environments.
· It would be beneficial, although not essential, for applicants to have some relevant industrial experience – e.g. summer placements.
· You must be flexible and adaptable.
· You must be a confident communicator and proactive problem solver.
· You must be able to work in Poole, Dorset.
