Job description

An exciting opportunity for an electronics engineer to join the R&D team at Siemens’ award-winning site in Congleton UK, part of the Motion Control (MC) division. The role involves design and development of AC Motor Drive products, with activities ranging from new product design and innovationto undertaking cost-down and technical support activities on existing products.

What are my responsibilities?

We are looking for an engineerwho is in the early stage of their career, although this requirement isflexible for the right candidate. You must have a real passion forelectronics,the energy and determination to get things done,and the knowledge to be ableto contribute in the following areas:

· Design of industrial power electronics products for high-volume manufacture, achieving quality, cost and timescale targets;
· Innovative and creative thinking, adopting relevant new technologies and processes, whilst achieving business targets;
· Design of analogue and power electronic circuits;
· PCB-level circuit design, schematic capture and simulation;
· Hands-on design prototyping, proving and test;
· In-depth technical product support and cost-down activities;
· Obtaining product approvals (such as UL);
· Supportingour factories for successful new product introduction into manufacture;

What do I need to qualify for this job?

Candidates will havemost ofthe following experience to be considered for this role:

· Demonstrable experience of electronic product design for volume manufacture;
· Hands-on knowledge of analogue circuit design;
· Experience of the design of power electronics circuits for 230V/400V systems;
· Experience of circuit prototyping in a lab environment (build, test, debug);
· Someunderstanding of manufacturing techniques e.g. Design for Manufacture, Design for Test, Design for Automation;
· Userof design tools including schematic entry, circuit simulation and modelling. Knowledge ofother CAD tools for analysis techniques such as lifetime, timing and thermal analysis would be interesting;
· Design verification and test experience. Product validation and approvals against relevant international standards, such as UL and CE;
· Experience ofdesigning and testing to meetEMC and ESD requirements;
· Some awareness of lean and agile development processes would be helpful;
· Knowledge of German would be a bonus but is not required.

We will consider applications from candidates with general analogue design experience who areprepared to learn and develop their power electronics skills.

Applicantsmusthave a degree in Electronic Engineering orequivalent. The role will involve a small amount of travel for short durations.
