Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy is expanding its research and development (R & D) capability in the UK with new investments in its facility atKeele university’s Science and Business Park (KUSBP), a centre dedicated to leading edge R & D for wind power converter technology.

Made up of specialist engineers, researchers and support staff, the UKR&D department is primarily responsible for developing new power converters and related technologies for large onshore and offshore wind turbines. TheKeele based Power Converter Software, Modellingand Control (SMC) team are an integral part of this department and are responsible for thesuccessful integration of the power converter and its associated controls intothe wind turbine and wind farm control system

Located at Siemens Wind Power’s R&D office at Keele University, this role involves the development, testing, and delivery of wind turbine power converter control software. A background in producing, testing and delivering high quality software is a requirement.We are looking for someone technically competent who can manage and own the given tasks, who has good attention to detail, good communication skills and can take the initiative in resolvingtechnical issues. A capable individual, motivated and good communicator. Someone with previous experience within project execution in engineering is required to meet this role. Your dutieswill includethe following

What are my responsibilities?

· Managing the testing and delivery of software produced by the SMC team
· Proposing and implementing appropriate solutions that ensure that the delivered software is tested both thoroughly and efficiently
· Development and implementation of converter control software features
· Other duties, as necessary to meet the business objectives

What do I need to qualify for this job?

Educated to degree level in an either Electrical Engineering or Computer Science

Knowledge of C, C++, scripting languages, and automated build and test environments is essential

Knowledge of object oriented code, UML and embedded software would be advantageous

Knowledge of converters, control systems and Matlab/Simulink would be advantageous

A keen interest in Renewable Energy (wind energy) is desirable
