Role Overview
An exciting new opportunity has arisen for a Data Scientist /Data Analyst (Digital Quality Expert) to join the Quality Department at Siemens' award-winning site in Congleton UK, part of the Motion Control (MC) division.
This role will help shape the digital future of our business where you will take ownership for creating comprehensive and insightful analysis of data, using both existing and new data sources, in order to facilitate our planning and decision making capabilities.
In addition to what is understood today, you will be instrumental in making the unknown, known. In this role you will be working closely with experts across the organisation both in the UK and other countries.
What are the responsibilities for this role?
Explore and apply new sources of data, techniques and implementation routes in order to supplement our existing data bases
Report on key performance marketing metrics against targets on a daily, weekly and monthly basis and provide actionable insights to improve performance
Translation of requirements, creation of functional specifications, extraction of data and development of SQL scripts
Produce answers to questions and find correlations in data that might either drive new business, significantly improve processes or enhance the customer journey
Stay up to date with the latest data science technologies and techniques to determine how they can be utilised throughout the organisation
Understand and apply predictive modelling and machine learning techniques, suggesting alternatives to how we operate today
Identify areas for improvement to increase data accuracy and usability
What do I need for this role?
Degree qualified (or equivalent experience) in quantitative field such as Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Machine Learning / AI preferable
Experience of existing Quality and business improvement processes, such as SPC, 6 Sigma, Lean Agile
Good command of Excel, Microsoft SQL Server and BI software (ideally Tableau, and Pyramid).
You have the technical competence to perform advanced analytics: coding skills (such as Python), experience with analytics tools (e.g. R, SPSS, SSRS, SSAS, SSIS) and experience performing analysis with large datasets.
Experience of different processes needed to manufacture high volume electrical products.
Experience in data mining, discovering of patterns within large data and statistic interpretation
Exceptional communication skills, in order to explain your work to people who don't understand the mechanics behind data analysis
Great attention to detail and the ability to problem solve
Drive and the resilience to try new ideas, if the first one doesn't work. You'll be expected to work with minimal supervision, so it's important that you're able to motivate yourself
A collaborative approach to sharing ideas and finding solutions
